Depends on what/how you lift. I have other threads on here where I talk about how LITTLE I can curl with the legs because of post-workout cramping.
I slow down if I bulk upper body muscle, just because of extra weight. Plus, if I'm spending more time in the gym lifting, I spend less time on the road.
Now that you are "middle aged" you don't want to be a hulk anyways, you got to keep that speed/endurance up to show up the pups
