If you want to see how big it is, look at an E70. While it might be bigger by an inch here or there, this is an updated E70. Google "X5 rear cargo 2011" and "X5 rear cargo 2014" to see images that show how similar they are, to the point where it appears that many trim pieces could be swapped:

It's not going to be surprising if lots of other parts are the same. There are certainly new and improved bits all over the car, but it's not as "new" as it might at first seem. I'd like one, and I could probably use my E70 floor and cargo mats!  |
BMW in Autocar already said F15 uses E70's platform (but chassis made 5% stiffer). F15's goal is more refinement, better ride, and higher quality. BMW redesigned the interior but if you look carefully, there are still resemblances (like what you said with the cargo *******, for instance, even though the stereo now has the B&O option, but the speaker placement is exactly the same as current E70's individual option.
Someone in another thread mentioned that F15 is more of a Big LCI rather than a brand new car and I totally agree with it.
