Many Europeans favor wide dished out rear wheels on the E30 M3 like these OZ racing wheels, also MK Motorsport wheels.
Accordingly, OP went with a 10" wide wheel and maxed out the tire size. The 245/35/17 tire size is an odd tire size that is not made by many manufacturers. At one time i was considering trying it and Toyo and Continental were pretty much the only brand name ultra high performance /max performance tires available in that size.

The 205/40/17s up front are ridiculously skinny in comparison. I believe that tire size is typically common on 7-8 inch wheels on japanese cars along with 215s.

With wheel widths 1" wider in the rear (as opposed to a square setup) as well as the chassis limitations of front tire width.. this car is much more ready for straightline or show car duty as it will understeer HORRIBLY (ask me how I know) with a 40 mm stagger front to rear on a chassis that came with a square setup that needs camber.

For better twisty road performance, let alone track duty.. beefing those front tires up to a 235/40/17 would be the hot ticket especially with the added weight of the S54 on the front. The 245/35 rears really look awesome and probably really are needed to put that S54 M powah down ...
