They both are expensive to maintain but I would say anything M will be a little more expensive, at least when I owned my m3 the cost of parts were always more and sometimes double of what your normal 3 series would cost. I would do it even you don’t need the utility out of the X5, but keep in mind that m5 probably has no warranty left on it possibly. Though at least the miles are really low for that year. Do you plan on daily driving it?
