What's the mileage on the car, what's your average mileage between oil changes, do you floor it often, still on warranty, do you plan to keep your car long term, do you plan to tune it, do you idle often, do you drive mostly highway or city?
Good news is - whatever you answer on my previous questions - I have a best solution for you:
1. Filter is easy - Mann (there's nothing better):

2. Oil depends what you want really. If you plan to chip tune your 35i - and considering that engine is hot engine - I would go for the best of the best (has to be ester based oil):

1. 17 mm socket to remove and tighten the drain plug
3. 27 mm socket to remove the filter cap + 16 flute 86.4mm oil filter removal tool
