I thought this should be pretty easy and straight forwarding thing. However, it's not, and it starts to confuse people, like me.

Turn-on Auto H - no brake light.
Turn on Auto H and Auto H is in use - brake light ON.

In my case, my MY15 X5 35i (US) and MY18 X5 40e (US) are all acting the same. When the car is in D or R, the Auto H (in use) will behave the same as when I step on the brake; the brake light the left/right as well as the 3rd brake light are all ON.

In theory, I also believe the light should stay ON when Auto H is in use, otherwise, there is no way for the drivers/cars behind us to be notified of our status. We may be hit from the behind, we may cause more accidents, and we will show BMW how good American lawyers can be.
