I can definitively say I have experienced the following differences:
1. There is now more of a "diesel" sound coming from the engine. The 2015 sounded like a regular gasser, the 2018 does not. When you stand outside next to the X5 you hear the difference, not from inside the car.
2. The 2018 has more lag (turbo lag?) when starting from a stop or when passing. It is not bad, but noticeable.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the VW emissions scandal. I know BMW came out of dieselgate clean and clear, but I wonder if they made any tweaks to be extra careful.
I still love the X5 but thought I would share my experience.
