Air suspension - down less than an inch?
Hi All- long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks in advance for all of the very valuable opinions of the members here.
I have done quite a bit of searching and cant find anyone with the same description of my issue. 2015 X5 with air m sport suspension and rear air suspension. Car is lowered with H&R sport springs in front. 57k miles. When I get to the car each morning the suspension in rear is down approximately half an inch, or less. Seems to be on one side, but its hard to tell since its not down much at all. Could be both sides. The compressor runs for less than 30 seconds and then stops. The car is then at the correct height. if i get to my car within a few hours after driving, the suspension is at the correct height and the compressor doesn't run. If i wait 8 hours, then suspension is down slightly again, and the compressor does run for 30 seconds again or so. What do you guys think? Am i overthinking this? Simply time to replace the air bags? Thanks! |

The rear air springs are going out. I replaced mine this past weekend, also on a 2015. You need an Arnott A-2642 air spring. A pair will cost $300 - $350 and it ended up taking about an hour and a half. My indy repair shop was going to charge $1,200.

I recently replaced both air springs because of the same issue. After installing new ones, the compressor would not fully inflate the bags until my mechanic installed the computer and found codes that needed to be resolved. For a moment i thought the compressor was bad. Dealer was charging me $1400 parts and labor vs $680.
Now it glides at 100mph and you don't even notice it. |

+1 Indeed. Rear air springs reached the end of their useful life.

2015 X5 S35i at 94k miles. The suspension goes in and out, weeks in between. Typically fixes itself by the next day after just sitting. Went out yesterday and its in the driveway now sitting about 6" above the wheel. Do you think it is the compressor?
