Retrofitting a M Sport Wheel To Standard Line Car
Hey Guys
I have a 2014 X5 Standard Line. I want to switch the steering wheel to a M Sport. I do have Drivers Assistance plus. Can anyone help me find the part number for the wheel? Do i need to order a New Airbag. How many hours of labor to do the swap at BMW? Thanks in advance |

Not sure on the parts numbers; but I did a similar mod on an F10 and you'll certainly need to purchase the round airbag to match the steering wheel...

32 30 7 847 454 (wheel, no heating)
32 30 7 847 455 (wheel, with heating) 32 33 7 849 416 (vibration generator, for DA+) 32 30 7 847 440 (front trim) 32 30 7 847 459 (back trim) 32 30 7 848 337 (wiring harness) 32 30 7 848 333 (screws) 32 30 7 850 621 (foam filler piece) 32 30 7 849 764 (airbag) 61 31 7 849 407 (multifunction buttons) I've done this on a number of cars now. The swap takes less than 10-15 minutes. Remove the battery connection, unclip the airbag through the access holes on the back, undo the hex bolt, and swap the wheels. Tighten the bolt and reconnect all harnesses. Connect the airbag, reinsert, and apply power to the car. You'd need to build the steering wheel yourself, using the parts above.
