Rear Heated Seat Issue
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I’ve checked the wiring and plugs underneath the seat but all is well. Any other suggestions? There are plenty of heated seat control modules on eBay, so for the sake of £20/30 I think I should try 1 of them. Aside from the module I don’t know what else there is to it? However from what I can see the module appears to be secured from above. Does anyone know how to gain access under the foam? For 5 seater cars it appears you just pull the base up, but this doesn’t work in 7 seaters with rear comfort seats. |

You might want to also check the battery health. When batteries get old the car will start decommissioning electric loads on options. Do you have a heads up display? If you do and it’s no longer on than it’s prolly the battery.

Replacement module arrived today and made no difference. After reading a bit more online I fear it may be the seat itself.
However I would like to rule out the rear climate controls. Anyone know how to remove these? I can’t find anything conclusive online. |

If you think it’s the seat just tests the resistance on the power and ground for the seat itself. You’ll know right away if there’s zero resistance with your multi meter.

I have an extended BMW warranty on mine, albeit with a £250 excess. It’s in for a service next month so I fear I may just get them to sort it to save any hassle. Just need to check the small print of the policy to see if it’s covered! |

Apologies, I'd forgotten he'd said "seat heaters" needed replaced. Just wasn't sure whether that was the heating element, or full seat.
Sadly I've remembered that the level of warranty I have won't cover this sort of thing, so would like to do a bit more investigation before forking out for a replacement seat. I'd be keen to swap the plugs over on the heated seat switches on the climate control unit to rule out a faulty unit. Does anyone know if the remove process is the same for a car without the rear climate controls? https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1477127 I have had a look at this but my part number 5 doesn't seem to be budging. |

Still at a loss with this. My BM specialist suggested disconnecting the back rest and seat base heated seat elements in turn to try and pin point where the fault lies, and to identify if it’s definitely the seat unit that is the issue.
But despite having the schematic for the rear heated seat wiring, I can’t be sure I’ve located the correct plugs. Any I’ve unplugged still haven’t made a difference! I can get a replacement seat cheap enough on eBay, but I don’t want to be throwing money at it unless I’m sure it’ll sort it. Any other suggestions?! |
