Alarm Going Off intermittently from new door seal?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
All,
I have a 2015 bmw X5 35i (130k miles). My driver door seal was getting old and rotted. I installed a new one last night and since then, my car alarm randomly goes off. It’s not often, once last night (thought it was a one off situation) and three times today. The alarm went off three times in 5 minutes while I continued to turn it off. I disconnected the battery and rage quited before continuing to diagnose it. I haven’t had the issue before and since changing the door seal it has arisen. I can’t wrap my mind around a new door seal causing the alarm to go off. Any input on this issue would be much appreciated?
Thanks,
Jack

The red LED status light (the red clown nose) gives an indication if there is an issue with the DWA (anti-theft alarm siren) system.

If everything is okay…the clown nose will do a slow flash once the system is initiated. If it is doing something different, it indicates something is up…are you getting the normal flash?

I get the fast flash for 10 seconds and then slow flash. So door isn’t fully closing because of new seal. It match the one I removed and is flush everywhere around the door

It lists TWO things that can cause the clown nose to flash fast for 10 seconds, then onto the slow flash. If you are for certainly sure that the new gasket install isn't causing the door to not close completely...could you have disturbed the microwave sensor in the door?

None of the SUVs show the location of the 4 microwave sensors...but on some of the sedans I used for examples (trying to think outside the box)...every BMW SUV or Sedan I attempted...the microwave sensors located in the doors had the same nomenclature: B113, B114, B115, and B116.

Again, non of the SUVs I looked up showed the location (G30/F15/F16)...but when I used my f06...they did show the location for the two front doors...so their location may be similar:

B113

B114

quick
found a work order in the glove from the previous owner where he was having the same issue. it said they found faults with sine and customer declined repair. that’s all it said. i looked at the fuse box diagram and saw the sine was the power alarm with tilt sensor. i’m wondering if i pull fuse 103 would this resolve my issue because the dealer probably saw faults with sine when they connected inpa.

The siren has its own internal battery….so until that battery totally discharges…you can & probably will still get false alarms especially when the internal battery starts to discharge because it interprets a drop in voltage as a theft attempt.

Buut pulling the fuse might interrupt other components that may be powered by that same fuse (this is a guess at this point because I haven’t checked what else is associated with that fuse). It may be better to just disconnect the power connector to the siren (if possible). See #2 in the illustration below.

Just out of curiousity… check and make sure you don’t have something plugged to your ODB2. That’ll make your alarm go off randomly.

Also, f your car has soft close and it’s disengaging then it could be making your alarm go off as well.

Just a thought.

If it is the low battery in the siren it is a pain to replace, actual part is relatively cheap (~$180) but it is located under the tail light and you need to take the rear bumper off.
