Liqui moly oil question

So want to do my first oil change since pickup up the x5 2 months ago. I’m planning on going with liqui moly because of good results in the past. So liqui moly’s “oil guide” says I should be using 5w-30 special tec b fe. Now on fcp euro the oil change kits only include genuine bmw 0w-30, liqui moly 5w-30 special tec LL, 5w-40 molygen and 5w-40 leichtlauf. I think the “FE” just means fuel efficiency and all of them are bmw ll-01 certified. Now I can order everything separately on fcp euro and get the special tec b fe. But would getting the regula special tec ll be good? I’ll still use engine flush and ceartac every could changes. Just not sure what I should start on since I’ll just keep using it. I think this is the closest to liqui moly’s recommendation.

You do engine flushes? That's not good

One every 3 oil changes I used liqui moly flush. This wasn’t on a bmw but never had issues

You put solvents in your engine, which may attack rubber seals and cause bearing wear. It's especially not needed if you do your scheduled oil changes.

I understand how they work that’s why I used them every 3 oils changes but after 40k miles on my other car never faced issues. Going back to the oil part, would the “FE” be needed or just the regular special tec LL.

Don't use The flush. Use leichtlauf high tech 5w-40 ll-01 and MoS2. That will be the best.

You’re over thinking it. Don’t worry about what bmw is recommending or FCP today as your engine is 5-10 years old and guarantee it’s changed 3-5x since. Most the recommendations are fuel economy based and too thin anyway. Pick the oil you like. As long as it’s quality. You’ll be just fine. Promise. Been using 5w-40 LM since purchase 7 years ago. No issues and much less oil burn.

Molygen 5W-40 here, oil changes every 5K miles sometimes I stretch it to 8K. Blackstone oil analysis always stellar even after 8K miles, could probably push it to 10K or more. I never flush or use any additives, with engine wear metal results so low on my oil report I don't see any reason to.

What kind of oil usage is everyone seeing? Bought our first Bimmer back in June (90k miles) and immediately it was calling for a quart of oil. Dumped one in and she rolled about 6k and called for another one (no evidence of a leak).
I intend on changing oil and filter every 5-6k with Mann #HU816-X and Mobile 1 0w-30.
Anyone have thoughts/suggestions on this? Thanks.

I would not do 0w-30. very thin and not built for engine longevity. its for emissions.

where have you looked for evidence of a leak? I had pretty decent oil loss and it wasn't until i took of the lower support brace where i saw a decent coating of oil which led to me changing the lower oil pan seal. note there was never sign of oil on the ground or in my garage. no more frequent oil addition.

I was just goin by there not being any oil on the garage floor, nor on the engine anywhere.
You suggest 5w-30 oil, then?

2 quarts every 5k miles or so on a 50i, sometimes a little more. I'm using whatever the dealer is putting in, 0W30 is my guess.

I’ve been using LM 5W-30 for over 2 years now and have had zero issues. I change my oil every 5k, and my diesel filter every 15k.

Something seems off with this. The oil has to go somewhere, if it’s leaking (at a rate to worry about) from a gasket and that car is parked in a regular position then it will pool on the ground. If it doesn’t then it’s not leaking.

It's being burned in the combustion cycle or put into the intake. The V8s are notorious for it I believe. BMW replaced a bunch of engines with "excessive" oil consumption.

That's not what he was referring to.

Big thumbs up for this combo - been using the MoS2 for years since an Audi mechanic friend recommended it. Not sure on the flushes - I'd think the religious oil changes are more than adequate.
