2014 BMW X5 Images leaked!
BIMMERPOST NEWS 2014 BMW X5 Images leaked! The time is ripe for the new X5 to be shown off, and these low quality and somewhat dithered images which were leaked onto the web, certainly look official. Infact, the BMW X5 has been slowing dropping its camo to reveal more and more of its flesh and these images confirm our suspicions on the new design elements the X5 would inherit from the current BMW lineup. Those elements being the BMW Air Curtain technology which features air vents in the front bumper designed to channel air. These vents have been stylized somewhat with border contrasting color which befits the the SUV body much more. Also seen here is the possibility of the front fender vent, ie. the boomerang vent that we've seen on the F32 concept car. Its not clear from these photos if its simply an impression in the sheetmetal or an actual vent, but past spy photos have certainly suggest there would be an actual vent. We shall see. And of course the most noticeable change is the adoption of headlights which connect to the kidney grills. A design element which I have to say works very well on the X5 which has overall thicker and larger headlamp units. Other technologies we dont see here, but are expect to debut on the F15 X5 include a pedestrian airbag system and the iDrive Touch Controller System. The new X5 is expected to weigh less than the current X5 and ride on a modified version of the F10 5 series chassis and continue being produced in BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. Compare with our spyshots seen earlier (http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=783034) |

Rear end looks too X3-ish to me. At least the front avoided that treatment.
Will reserve final judgement for high-res pictures and in-person impressions but my first thought is....meh. Doesn't significantly move the game on like it did from Gen 1 to Gen 2. Looks more like an LCI than a complete overhaul. Disappointed. It's certainly not awful, IMO. But nothing to get excited about. |

Looks like a mix between a Dodge Durango and a Grand Cherokee

It's OK I guess. I'm not in the market for an X5 anyways. My biggest gripe is that it looks overly busy --the BMW signature elements should be left to speak for themselves.

Not immediately a looker, but might be a grower. Bet it looks better in the flesh.

Back looks exactly the same as X3. X3 isn't a bad looking car, but I'd like the exterior to shout out that I paid much more to this than an X3
Front looks OK, I can get used to that... But still... Current X5 is a brilliant design. I don't think that this one is going to have the same elegant yet strong presence

I don't believe these pictures do the new x5 justice. I remember hating the e70 x5 when it came out and i remember many people of the forum hating it as well. My guess is that the f15 will without a doubt be gorgeous.

I like everything except the fog lights. On all the BMW SAVs, they just look like a stuck-on afterthought. "Oh we gotta put a round foglight somewhere!"

How much bigger is this than the model it replaces? I am curious to see specs/dimensions, etc. Hopefully it will have more cargo capacity and a functional third row.
