@ Hammad Nasser

If there is any consolation when you take it in for this issue, they will keep the car for a long time. My car is 3 weeks old and has been at the dealer 10 days.

There is another thread where someone mentions that in the US this issue is not fixed by dealer technicians, rather by a "national" level technical team.

My 10 y.o. daughter said that her door opened up. A few seconds later I got the alert in the instrument panel.

I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the car for that long.
This is a very serious issue and with the level of competition these days BMW cannot afford to have such a problem on their flagship SAV.
Maybe the reason why they had to keep your car for longer is because of the delay in the computer sensors. When my door opened I immediately got the warning and the lights came on.
One other unusual thing is that sometimes the warning would appear even if the door was not even open. Many glitches with this system and it is not making me happy.

- door seal flippy problem. Fixed free of charge by BMW.
- sometimes profiles don't load correctly.
- navigation is wrong sometimes. other times it's great.
- the apps aren't consistent but I rarely ever use them.
- other things annoyed me but coding took care of those.

And... that's pretty much it. Pretty good for a first run. It's a '14 x35i xline.

Is this economy pro mode? I think in that mode there are settings for this in the idrive. Not sure it is your problem.

I had mine with:

1. Cracks on aluminum trim
2. Severe scratch on the dash
3. Heated steering wheel button not working
4. Key fob memory error happened once
5. Sometimes I have to press the start/stop button 2 ~ 3 times to switch off the ignition

Does anyone have the same problem as mine does? (No.3 and 5)

My issues currently under investigation by my supplying dealer:
  • Towbar 13 pin socket re-wire (missing 12V auxiliary supplies),
  • Fix rear comfort seat rattle (second attempt)
  • Replace drivers door puddle light,
  • Had iDrive reboot a couple of times - investigate cause / rectify
  • Stop button sometimes needs multiple presses to stop engine - investigate cause / rectify
  • Sort out rusty brake disk hubs
  • Identify cause of transmission noise heard at low speeds (<=10mph) at light throttle - sounds like heat shield vibration / resonance (IMO) also makes strange rattling noise under the car on the overrun slowing from 30-20mph particularly on downhill.

Had my car since July and I took it in today for the following:
  1. Driver's door opened while driving - only once but enough to freak me out
  2. Squeaky brake pedal
  3. Poor radio and tv reception
  4. Weak AC
  5. Lumbar support noise when inflating
  6. Auto PDC - sometimes works perfectly yet at other times takes time to wake up

Minor stuff really (except the driver door of course) but I thought I would get them sorted...

+1 For issues 1 (rear door for me though) ,3,4, and 5. AM station is awful and XM goes out every time I go under an overpass. I suspect this is a buffering issue.

Alarm Chirp

Sound changed overnight. Hard to describe but sounds like the chirp went from Dolby Digital (in terms of fullness) to Stereo (only coming from rear passenger side of car and high pitched). I wasn't in love with the original chirp and now its even worse.

I had both 3 and 5. 3 was fixed by the dealer, 5 is not easily reproducible but I will mention it to dealer next time I'm in.

I have experienced #5 two or three times. (And I haven't tried the heated steering button yet).

Funny thing is, that this issue - combined with the fact that the radio stays on even the main doors are opened (not a "+" in my book) and the engine is very quiet (of course a positive thing) - I have actually pressed the stop button, gotten out of the car, closed the door and tried to lock it - when I realized that the engine was STILL running :-). Maybe I was playing too loud music...but still

Regarding the Auto PDC - I must say I think it's working as intended in our X5- but it seems a bit unstable to me - and I do not thrust it, unfortunately.
Moving into my garage, I have to press the Park-sensor button, and then I can see - visually on the display - that the sensors do see something - indicated by color change etc. - but no sound until very (too) near the wall.
(The Auto-PDC menu option is of course checked)

Only one substantive issue

Coming from an E70 I really like the F15. My small gripe is with the change to electronic steering as the car has lost some feel. My huge gripe is with the premium Dakota leather ventilated multi-contour seats. For whatever reason they cannot be less comfortable. In the E70 they were amazing, but the combination of perforations, stiff seating, and raised and questionable seam location simply does not work with my body! (and I tried everything on two 500+ mile trips). The only saving grace is that the car is my wife's daily driver! I complained to the dealer and despite also driving a pretty new M3, they could not have cared less.

I just spoke to my dealer and there is a software fix for the stop button issue not reacting. I'll drop by next week for the fix

One visit to the dealer and it was fixed. It drove me insane and the car sounded so cheap and rattly. All good now after lubricating. Looks like an issue with most F15 ... on the tailgate.
