I’ll go back and take more pics, I want to drive one and see how that goes. I went to look at the new Audi Q8 after the G05. It also has an oversized front grill, but the rest of the vehicle is very nice.
Cheers
Per BMW: open/closing grill at certain speed threshold will increase aerodynamics. Just seems like another thing to break or trigger a malfunction indicator. Worth it?

I like almost everything about the interior except all that blank area around the preset buttons. Looks like my daddys 1980 dodge ram. Just seems unfinished and disconnected from the rest of the dash and console. The F15 flows them together very nicely. I like the read out changes for the climate, but I hate the blank area it left when they move it up.

I noticed the same thing RedStick - I REALLY miss that from my Explore. I have a thumbdrive with like 500 songs on it and I just had them all in there set to random and if something did not strike your fancy - you could just hit next on the wheel and go to the next random song. I can do that in the F15 too, but I have to use the button on the radio or idrive wheel and miss having that right on the wheel.

Be a very welcome addition for me!

Both my F16 and F15 have a thumbwheel on the steering wheel that is used to scroll songs, tracks, radio stations etc.
Am I missing something?

No - mine does too - but when in my music collection and in RANDOM - it just jumps all over. If you hit the > on the radio it does too as well as the idrive wheel.....but when you turn the scroll wheel on the steering wheel it lists them by song name - not in random order like the other 2 do.

1st world problem I know, but the first thing so far I have missed from my old 12 POS explorer. Except maybe the seats.....that thing had great seats. I might just have not found the one of the 75,254 ways this seat adjust that my butt likes though, so I'm not ready to call that one yet........

I’ll try that out when I test drive one and follow-up.

Went to dealer today to buy oil filter. Saw several x3/4/5 standing outside. When they are standing to each other and you see lots of them - they seem very bland and boring looking - can't tell which one was x5 or x4 or x3 until i looked at badge on the back. x5 in person is same x5 with bumper changes - it's basically a facelift from exterior point. I looked inside and a new car is a new car - it's always attractive, but I can't say it is better than my x5. Choice of colors matters too. I would say there was bigger change from E70 to F15, than from f15 to G05. Exterior wise it's just a facelift.

If all one cares about is looks, then yes, there is no revolutionary change from F15 to G05 (but it's in line with every other model from any car manufacturer, isn't it?)

But, if you consider all the changes in suspension (full pneumatic, adjustable), all the electrics in the boot, all the nice gadgets inside, heated / cooled cupholders etc, then I would say it's far more than a facelift...

I agree. However, there is also a lot of same things besides exterior - like engines, still same V8, there is some improvement planned for 2020 model year, so we'll see when it comes. Same transmission too if I'm not mistaken. Even same seats - literally same seats taken from f15 and put into g05. i mean e70 had completely different seats. f15 lifetime was artificially shortened, so i think this is why bmw took more like LCI (facelift) approach to g05 utilizing a lot of same parts. I do agree that tech options are a good addition.

I mean, how much more tech do we need? Do people really not use the GPS on their phones? Because I’ve never found a better GPS than what’s on my iPhone. Let’s see, what else is there...music. How many different ways do we need to connect our phones to our radio to play music? Hand gestures? Come on...that’s not what sells cars. Aesthetics and performance are what sells cars. Do folks really need their text messages to come through on their phone, watch, and now on the car screen? It just seems silly and unnecessary.

Unfortunately, times are changing. Most car manufacturers now boast about all the features and options that a car has vs. how it drives and handles.

So it's a facelift because it's ugly?

Let’s try this: regardless of whether considered a facelift or an entirely new exterior/chassis, some of us do not find it aesthetically appealing as compared with the F15.
