Guys is Lemforder 31126863785 a good option for wishbone replacement? I started having that creaking noise on low speed on flat road like in slow stop and go traffic. That Lemforder costs $110 and it says it's OE - not sure if it really is.
CPO warranty will not cover it right? I'll need alignment after correct? Thank you Last edited by DuSh; 01-16-2019 at 02:08 AM.. |

And yes you'll need an alignment cuz this directly affects camber.

31126864821 is the lower left suspension piece. 822 is lower right. Called a wishbone but it's a straight stick of aluminum with two bushings and a ball joint...
I have heard that the upper wishbone can bend. I'm hoping mine is in good shape. What do your thrust arm bushings look like? What's funny is we share that upper wishbone w/E70 X5s.

Tech just reported back to me that there is a common problem with the M cars that there is a known noise that comes from the front brakes so they have a remedy where they place a shim between the hub, rotors and wheel to get rid of the noise. Tech says it may not get rid of it completely, but there should be a difference after that is done. |

The one I have is when suspension makes creaking noise when car is not going over any bumps, but is on flat surface and we can reproduce noise by lightly applying gas pedal and taking it off right away, it's heard at low speeds with climate control turned off to hear creaking noise. By avoiding going over bumps - we rule out sway bars, struts and ball joint. We rule out tie rods by keeping steering wheel straight and not touching it. We only move forward on a flat surface when noise is made - that indicates it's control arms (so called wishbones) - as they are exactly what connects body frame and hub/strut assembly and if bushings are worn - it will create that creaking noise - when longitudinal force is applied against body frame (like in our case moving forward and car jerks forward/backward when we lift off the gas pedal, especially in Sport/Sport+ mode when gas pedal is very sensitive). Then there is another issue/noise with backing up and turning the wheel - that is different issue I think that could be related to either steering wheel assembly (including inner knuckles or tie rods), to brakes or ABS module - not sure if it was 100% diagnosed by someone? If you have noise going over bumps - that's either ball joint, strut mount or sway bar links/bushings. In your case with turning the wheel and slightly lifting brakes off - could be either brakes or steering assembly (anything from mounts to knuckles and tie rods). I know it's hard to diagnose suspension noise on x5 as we have lots of things that could be at fault here. |

Doubt it. Most suspension components aren't covered under warranties u less it's a faulty part. But doesn't hurt to try.

It is covered under warranty. Just provide the SIB number to the dealer and they will take care of it. I had it done on mine under warranty 7 months ago.

Spoke too soon. After I picked up the car I got a call to say car was incorrectly assumed to have warranty and work was done under that instead of the CPO. They said they will call me tomorrow to update me. Not sure if they are asking for the $50 deductible or want money for the work that I was never told the cost of.

And yes there is a SIB which if in factory warranty will be covered. But extended and CPO are different animals. I've never heard anyone under CPO getting it done since most of these fail around 30k miles. My issue was so little miles in the Original lease that I lost warranty due to time not mileage.

That was my exact experience with my old F01 also - the left front control arm was replaced and the noise was gone. With F15 unfortunately this crept up after warranty expired.

It was lower wishbone. Both left and right were replaced and the SIB mentioned in this thread was noted on the work sheet.
Not sure if I will get a call tomorrow to request payment as they seem to incorrectly assume I had warranty when in fact only CPO warranty. I didn’t authorize any work and assumed it was covered by CPO. My warranty expired 12/31. The issue did being to occour before that but I don’t think I mentioned that. I had 35k miles in the car.
