Driver's Side Camera Malfunction

Hey guys,

I am seeing the dreaded camera malfunction on my driver's side camera. On the top car view, it has a red x on the right side. Does this typically mean the camera needs to be replaced?

Its not ideal.

You could swap the right mirror with the left mirror camera and see if the error follows. If it does, you know the camera is bad. I remeber reading somewhere the the front, rear and mirror cameras were all the same and interchangeable, but don't quote me.

Did you pull the codes? Should let you know whats going on.

In an F15 with 360 view all 4 cameras are interchangeable. I had my front broken and I bought used driver mirror, as it was cheaper on scrapyard

Did you just plug it in and no programming done?

Yes, no coding needed, simple task. Nevertheless be careful while disassembling mirror

Might just be a bit of water in the electrical connector.

I had this after I washed the car once. I pulled the mirror off and disconnected the camera to dry it out, then put it back together and it was fine.

Did it do this after washing or rain? Can you pull the code?

Thanks guys. I will pull off the mirror to get to the camera and check its condition.

Fknid , I didn't wash the X5 recently nor did it rain (unfortunately in LA).
