Good questions - if you search the site you'll probably find your answer. I can't honestly recall. I'm not real knowledgeable in this area as I drive a 50i for which there's not an MPE available.

I know there's lots of 35i guys on this site with the MPE - somebody chime in and help out a new member!

MPE tips are convenient if you decide to paint/repaint/clean them as they have clamps can be taken off whenever and the cost difference between getting mpe tips which can be simply clamped on and reusing your m sport tips with all that cutting and welding isn't substantial

So I can't cut the stock m sport tips off and clamp them to the mpe ? Wouldn't that essentially be the same as buying new tips? Assuming they're cut to the same length. Unless the diameter of the pipe is different on the MPE vs the stock exhaust.

I'd imagine its more involved than just cutting and welding them on although they look identical they function differently as passenger side msport finisher has a flap inside that close/open depending on rpm while mpe finishers has no flap and stay open

Links not working for me, looks like you have an msport so this would be the correct mpe tips https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...on-18302349679

Last question. From doing some research this seems like the cheapest option for the 35i. Is this overly loud? I don't want to pull into my parking lot at work sounding like a 18 year old in a Honda Civic?

Go you YouTube and search for F15 MPE, there's lots of videos/sound clips to help you decide.
