Body roll
Is there any mods to decrease the amount of body roll the f15 has? 2015 n57 here with h&r springs on stock shocks and air ride. No stock dampening.
Thinking about buying bc coilovers to reduce body roll. . Would it even help in that department? |

Stiffer springs or coilovers would help with body roll to SOME extent, but to truly control body roll ull need swaybars which sadly... no one makes for the F15, except only 1 company out of taiwan. The company is called hardrace and they only make a rear swaybar. Good luck trying to source one in north america tho, maybe a shop who specializes in jdms and deals with a lot of hondas can help u get from hardrace as hardrace seems to be mostly hondas/toyotas. Besides, u dont want cheap BC racing coilovers as itll ride like shit. U can ALSO try retrofitting the active sway bars from X5 with a specific package or X5Ms but that will probably require a lot of coding and modules to work, and so far i dont think anyone has been brave enough to try yet, maybe u can be the first?

I disagree on BC coilovers. They can have a fairly compliant ride if you don't lower them too much. I've been very impressed with them on my E53. Admittedly that's a much lighter X5 than the F15, but still. There are other users here with the BCR's on the F15 who are also very satisfied.
On the E53 I can say that body roll is fairly non-existent. Took it on the 3 sisters here in south Texas and was very impressed. Hopefully those with BCR's (and other coilovers) on their F15s will chime in with their thoughts. |

coil and links instead?
Quote:
Ive done only the 1st change and the roll control was only slightly, very slightly improved (because of the lower center of gravity). I've not done the rear bar and bushings yet because I'm on the fence on trading my X5 in for a new X5 (one with DHP (Dynamic Handling Package)). But the bottom line? I don't think any upgrades, coil overs, or the ones I just mentioned, will ever transform our X5 to handle significantly better or like one with factory DHP (which is rare) unless someone makes aftermarket big sway bars front and rear (which is not likely). Not trying to discourage you or flame any coil over fans but handling of a F15 X5 is just limited. Sway bar love? Case in point: I had a F10 550i without DHP and hated the roll. I replaced the springs and upgraded the shocks...still rolled. But then I swapped the OEM front and rear sway bars from the M5, which were substantially thicker, and the car was transformed to near flat handling at all speeds. Just My 2 cents.

Opps...I may be all wrong.
Just when I thought I exhausted all my attempts at researching roll control on my F15 X5, there is someone that looks like they did it. He's got an X5 listed for sale with numerous suspension upgrades...some I didn't know existed.
You might want to contact him and perhaps he will share his experiences with the suspension upgrades. Sorry to ALL for my long, one sided previous post...I was just caught clueless. https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1904349

Not very sure of this, but I've just checked realoem and found that F15 and F16 uses the same anti-roll bar for the front side. There are three variations depending on what handling package you have on your X5 but on all 3 variations, the F16 seems to also share the same exact parts. Factory front anti-roll bars are 27mm and there's a 26.5mm variation, too. Then I find this Aleks Racing Anti-roll bar for the F16 X6, it's 29mm, should be a nice improvement: https://www.aleksracing.com/front-an...-2020-ar29-498
Anyone can chime about this? I think I might just buy it and make that jump for everyone.

An update for those who's interested in this:
I've gone through a lot of finding and referencing, and seems like no one can confirm any of this, but I'll take the dive and try it out on my own. I checked realoem and confirmed under the stock suspension options that F15 and F16 both use the same part numbers for the front anti-roll bars. Rear sway bar isn't checked because these are already available by "HardRace". I found and ordered something from Taiwan yahoo Kimo platform for the F16 front and F15 rear. Once I confirm fitment, I'll let everyone know. Hope this would help whomever ponders. Happy motoring. BTW, Aleksracing isn't responsive. Their phone number is down and no one seems to respond to orders nor the emails. So I gave up on Alek.

Quick update, the sway bar that I've located are from Ultra Racing. The rear sway bar is on its way here, but the front sway bar is out of stock and will be produced and ready by June. This will be a slow thread coming up. I'll update once I have everything in place. Meanwhile, I've also gone ahead and ordered the H&R lowering springs and the Bilstein B6 struts/shocks to go with the suspension. Coming from an E70 X5, this F15 absolutely feels much softer. I also noticed an immediate difference upon changing the 19" rims into the 21" (staggered and low profile tires). There are just a bunch of things we can do to stiffen up the suspension feel. So unless we try our luck, we may never really find out.

Folks, got the front sway bar from Ultra Racing yesterday. These are 29mm diameter and are much heavier than stock. Side by side comparison, they appear to be a fit. I'll be installing it this weekend. Will then take pics to show everyone if the install goes well. The Rear sway bar came in a few weeks ago, already got it installed, perfect fit. Very robust bars. I can't do any reviews yet because my car is being built for forged internals at the moment, looking to get everything up and running within the next 2-3 weeks.
For those of you who's interested, I'll post the link and part number below: Front Ultra Racing Sway Bar Part No: UR-AR29-498 Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22480553705...53.m2749.l2649 Rear Ultra Racing Sway Bar Part No: UR-AR24-294 Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22418066167...53.m2749.l2649 FYI, when I placed my order, the rear bar was readily available, and it shipped from Malaysia, took about 5-days to get in (includes clearing customs). The front bar was out of stock, eBay seller contacted me and let me know a 2-month ETA; however, in about 3 weeks, it came out and arrived much sooner. This is a legit seller and he's on the dot on every communication inquiry I gave him. I'd say seller is a keeper, and these bars are a good find. Happy motoring, folks.

What gave me the confidence to make this dive is because on RealOem when i cross-reference part numbers I found under Standard Suspension amongst F15, F16, and E70 are all using the same exact front sway bar part number. Therefore, when I come across this eBay listing for the E70 front sway bar, I think I've hit jack-pot. I've been tinkering in the garage lately, and every time I pass by the Ultra Racing sway bar, I end up measuring and checking its dimensions against the stock sway bar, I'm now more than confident it's a fit. I'll be delaying the install for a week because I'll be taking the front and rear sway bar bushing brackets to aluminum oxide blasting then I'll apply Cerakote on it for Aesthetic reasons. My bushing brackets are mostly corroded by road salt and I just can't put them on these new fine looking sway bars. So I should be updating my install and hopefully will load up some pictures by middle of May. This isn't exactly an easy find. After all this cross-referencing; I've gone through placing orders from 4 different sources. AleksRacing failed miserably; after placing an order, it took them two weeks to tell me they are out of stock. Then the yahoo Kimo eCommerce didn't go through because I'm not a resident of Taiwan. Then I found Demon Tweeks in England, and they were gonna make me wait until they have stock, I just about gave up at this point until a light bulb lit up when I thought to look on eBay. And I used the partial part numbers I found in a Taiwanese website for the Ultra Racing part number. All this while, the part numbers are indicated for E70 only; so while I found the eBay links and ordered them all; the risk was still quite high until both sway bars arrive and upon initial comparison...phewwww... they all appear to fit. And that's when I was finally able to make peace with the $900 spent on begging and betting for it to fit our F15's.

How does the F15's active stabilizer bar (aka, roll bar) perform over the traditional F15 27mm stabilizer bar?
It looks like it would be just a swap. Am I missing something? |

I'd reckon the active stabilizer bar being electronically controlled will need some coding to install, it may be a direct swap, but what of the required wiring harness(s)? then some coding work, definitely not for an average joe to do. This thread is basing on the presumption for all F15's with a standard suspension where as the stabilizer bar is too soft and do not provide enough anti-roll characteristic during cornering. So it's why ultra racing's stabilizer bar is becoming a blessing to us who are looking for the slight improvement in stiffness.

Got the bar installed
Okay folks,
These Ultra Racing Stabilizers are finally installed. The fitment is perfect. No fuss, no mess. Please excuse me since I'm old school. I'll attach the pictures of the front stabilizer installed. The front stabilizer install is definitely not a job for the average joe; and if you're not having some shop install it, You have but two choices: 1) drop the subframe to access it from the bottom end. 2) remove the whole front end to access from the front and top. Since my motor was out for a 6-month build, and just recently dropped back in, I still have my front end completely out. For me it's not that hard to do. Also, the bar is very heavy, so if you're not doing it my way, you'll likely need a second set of hands to help you keep things leveled and even till you can finally bolt the brackets onto it. The install went well, and I also put in the new end links; to which, the passenger side end link was wrong, so I'm having to return it and get the correct one. But overall, the fitment is perfect. The new bar comes with a new set of rubber bushings plus a small tube of lube. My bushing bracket was rusting up by road salt, so I applied Cerakote Titanium Blue coating on it. Same coating I put on my catless VRSF downpipe. The Cerakote coating can really take a beat without chipping off or scratching out. Coupled with this install, I've also taken the opportunity to change out to H&R lowering springs and Bilstein B6 strut/shocks. It should end up becoming a good firm ride. The only thing I can't do is a proper review at this time. As you can see from the pictures, The car hasn't been put together. So I can't drive it and give it an opinion or two.

Now, the rear stabilizer bar
Rear Ultra Racing stabilizer bar is also installed. Fitment is perfect, this one comes in at 24mm diameter and is full solid steel, much heavier than the stock stabilizer bar. Comparing to the front stabilizer, this rear stabilizer install is a breeze, just take the original bar off and put the new one on, no need to haggle with exhaust or rear diff, plenty of space to work with.
Again, My car isn't operable yet, so I cannot offer a review. But overall, I must say, the Ultra Racing stabilizer bars are a blessing to the F15 community. Though these are all made for the E70 standard suspension, it's a direct fit to our F15 standard suspension. These are well-built, high quality, perfect fitment, and super robust and solid; these really dwarfed the stock stabilizer bars by far. I'm hoping to put my car back together within this month. Then I can offer a ride review. My review won't be fair since the car's been down for over 6 months already, and in this big build, I've also changed out several suspension parts, upgrades etc. But at least when everything's up and running I can offer a ride review, not to compare to stock, but to actually tell how the stabilizers are performing.
