Picked up a Thule Vector Alpine to help with storage for our summer adventures. Wasn't sure if it would fit as i couldn't find a picture of the alpine on a f15 x5. Very happy with how it looks.

We built out and adventured in a vintage Volvo van for the last 18 months so the x5 didn't get much attention ☹️

I have summer performance tires on 21s and live in Arizona so I avoid snow and ice but got caught in it last Thanksgiving going over a pass in Oregon. It actually handled it surprisingly well.

But that doesn't mean I'm going to turn it into my ski trip ride.

Just got back from a trip to Panama City. ~1900 miles round trip. ~25mpg (calculated, not indicated) average over the entirety. Filled up my most expensive non-commercial tank ever @ ~$115. Diesel was $5.799/g on the way back. I know that's minor leagues for those in other countries, but here in the States that's literal, highway robbery. Learned the diesel's gas mileage drops off GREATLY over ~75mph, especially with the roof box on.

Here's a pic of first fill up. Full family hauler trip mode was engaged with the roof box, 3 pillows, and at least 5 blankets in the car. How many did Dad get when he wanted to rest at a rest stop? 0, of course. Though I was thrown a small stuffed animal to rest my head on...

And here is after we got back. Took 2 runs through the tunnel and a lot of quick detailer to get off 95% of the Florida "love bugs" and other assorted fauna's guts. The rest will come off in subsequent washes.

Very happy with the F15's travelling capabilities. Radar cruise continues to be a game changer (works better at night when traffic is lighter though). And as I like to travel at night, high beam assist turned out to be amazing. First time I had used that function. Suspension still feels good, but I know a front end rebuild is approaching in 10-15k miles. The front tension arm bushings are looking cracked so it's just matter of time...
