Everyone, what a great story-...I've got to tell my wifey these stories to justify buying that second vehicle; a Tesla Cybertruck; basically a lightly armored tank.

Exactly!! I keep searching for a slightly used, affordable M1 Abrams tank but they're still out of my price range or too heavily guarded to borrow.

Whenever I get jammed up by idiot drivers,it's always been a thought since someone beat me to it back in 1995. Only if....

Back in 1984 when I was 15 my grandmother and I spent the entire summer in Communist USSR visiting relatives in Simferopol and it was quite the experience for me. I saw lots of shit I'll never forget especially the driving. We went to Red Square. You had to share the roads w donkey carts, military vehicles and Lada's(IIRC).

I was told by my cousin that if you were unfortunate enough to get into an accident&hit one of the Red Army while you were driving that you'd never be seen or heard from again. He was most likely fucking w me,but I always wondered lol

Not Italy or Pakistan bad, but the year I spent in Minneapolis was a particular kind of hell. The city had boomed so that everywhere was busy and the highways were inadequate, but adding to this was an almost universal trend of people to move over to the left to block you if you were going faster than them. All part of 'Minnesota nice' I'm sure.

Since General Dynamics Land Systems won the contract to build their new light tank, Griffin II, the military is retiring these old Stryker MGS variants...maybe we can buy one as surplus 🙏

Hmm Moscow, I would not have expected to hear it is lawless on the road there

So red lights aren't enforced?

They are, but you can pay off DPS (their police) and get out of anything. It's probably more strict now - Moscow has changed a lot since I was there over 15 years ago but the Russian people are unfortunately heading towards another economic collapse because of the typical terrible leadership and corruption so it'll probably go back to early 90s mafia control for a while. Things don't change there, unfortunately. It was the same thing during the tsars, USSR and post USSR. If you're smart/lucky enough you leave. I'm blessed that my father got my family to the United States in the 80s.

It was almost 40yrs ago I definitely forgot lol. I just recall leaving Red Square and heading back to my cousins house on a twisty mountain road and thats where I remember all the craziness. It was a awesome experience as not many Americans had the luxury to roam around like we did, certainly because we were not "tourists" per se as they monitored them pretty strictly from what I recall. Once in a lifetime experience for sure!

I can't decide what my next commuter should be... either an International Travelall with a front bumper from a tow truck, or else a mid-60s Imperial.

As a driver, it's a toss up for me between Naples or Bucharest. Both very congested and aggressive, though in Bucharest drivers didn't get angry like in Naples, it was just the normal driving style. Once I figured that out and started driving like them, it was almost fun! Once I hit the Transfagarasan Hwy in the Carpathian mountains it was a blast!

As a passenger, Rome probably tops the list for me.

But holy shit you guys think people in the US are bad.... there's only the illusion of rules on the roads of Pakistan. People will routinely drive on the wrong side, stoplights are more a suggestion than a hard rule... and you're sharing the road with other cars, motorcycles, cyclists, rickshaws, horses, donkeys pulling carts, large buses with no regards for safety, pedestrians who don't fear for their lives, and the occasional cow.

Despite all this, probably the most insane place I've witnessed (didn't have the balls to drive there) was Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Motorcycles there buzz through like a swarm of bees... it's actually quite fascinating to watch. If you're in a car and turning right onto a road, you don't wait for the oncoming traffic to pass... you just go, and the oncoming traffic goes around you like.... a swarm of bees or a school of fish. I was in awe.
As someone who's driven in Pakistan a few times, I totally agree.
