Here you go! The ones in daylight were taken upon installation so the suspension has not fully settled yet, the one at night was after a bit of a drive and that's how she stands full-time now . I also attached a pic of our X5 with no flare at stock height (no spacers), but riding flushed on F16's stock 623m, which was sooooo tucked on my F16 when I first picked her up...
Just had a few drinks, so here goes my VTF thesis. Tbh, I would be cautious about using it; in other words, it depends. Here are some of my top trains of thought about VTF: 1. Hands down, the best option overall is going to be KWs/BC Racing for comfort, looks, and overall ride quality, combined. Though, that could shy people away either because of budget or, in my case, to retain EDC, which I use a lot depending on the road conditions. Similar to why I'm on full RaceChip instead of a flash tune (also taking into account the Isley Settlement), I want to have options since I do exploit all of them to best serve road conditions and my driving mood. 2. If this is your daily driver or only car and you know for sure that at least 60% of your commute would be with other people in the vehicle (especially with kids or pets) on bad roads (I live in the Tri-State area), then maxed out VTF might not be worth it. The ride could be too harsh for your backseat passengers who expect a comfy ride from an SUV. Hence, you would need to have it raised up a bit, but then you have other springs that offer a more comfortable ride despite a lower drop for like ~$100 cheaper. I can care less about this since ~65% of my miles on the X6 are by myself, ~25% with a front-seat passenger, and ~10% with a full vehicle (and I mean luggage-stuffed airport runs). Plus, the people who sit in my car are used to modded/lowered vehicles anyway; else, we just take the X5 for long, comfortable trips. 3. Adjustability and bang-for-buck. This circles back to point 1 a bit, but I do like the idea of being able to adjust it whenever I want to; yea, you can't do it on the fly like true air suspension, but then it's a very, very good feature for the money in my book. If I want more comfort or height for an upcoming trip, I'll just raise it a tad. If not, I'll keep it slammed. Also, I've heard mixed reports between KWs versus VTFs maxed-out heights (i.e., which one drops more), so if anyone has concrete, sample-measured stats, that would help a lot of people who are on the fence! AND I know the rear tires look a tad stretched, which they are... Going to change to DWS06+ after this set since their sidewalls seem a bit more fitting in this size, on this wheel. I think this is the first picture I've posted of my Silverstone Metallic M, not that there's much to show in the way of exterior mods outside of tint
I did notice that it seems to be one of the few Ms with the matte chrome trim. It seems like most everyone else has gloss black trim. It's probably not most people's cup of tea, but I don't mind since it amps up the mom-mobile level and helps to make it even more invisible to the local rozzers Last edited by ArthurMorgan; 12-26-2022 at 04:31 PM.. |
