Hi I have a Mint F85 70k 2017- When I say “Mint” - It’s a 9-10 - The Entire car is PPF-Ed - AND CARED FOR . Now I have an ongoing issue with BMW NA - ok and I presume ALL WILL BE AFFECTED GIVEN CLIMATE/ STATE/ And Miles - the 2 front doors bottom forward facing edges are -“CHIPPED AND Forming RUST”- Pics will be attached - The car is normal driven - Yes I drive it very hard but I also know how to . Also I’m a 20+ Year Body tech that knows his poop - this is extremely unusual for a stock car with nothing but running stock Equiptment and also COMPLETELY PPF’ed car (went through PPF) - Take a look and pls speak up if you are experiencing these or similar issues - I included a few images. I also included an image of the vehicle. You could see the PPF on the front A pillars the entire vehicle is wrapped in it from top to bottom.- My Car is 9-10 cond except for this “Factory Faulty Design” - Thank You and pls speak up .. BMW has a limited 12 year rust and perforation guarantee well let me show you what I got. - and by the way the only reason snow tires are on it because I have not driven the car. They will be swapped out this week. - NOTHING IS OFF SPEC BUT THEIR DENIAL TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY!

Not to nit pick, but I don't see any of PPF that you mentioned. I see some PPF on the panels but non on the actual leading/impact edges.
It looks like the rust came in after the leading edges(that dont have any PPF) were rock chipped significantly and were not fixed/sealed. Thus leading to environmental's getting in and rusting out the panel. Sure there warranty sux, I saw another guy post here a lil while ago about bubbling/pealing on a plastic panel and he was denied a claim. That suxs and nothing could be done. In your case though for future, get proper PPF or fix the rock chips. |

The entire car, and the corners or PPFd prior to delivery- of the new car and it was a Garaged since let me include some images- Mark, my words, most cars, at least 75% will be suffering from this ailment because of a manufacturing flaw tires in front are two wide on X5M’s henceforth sandblast effect on a 25 year body tech I’ve never seen this before on any vehicle with stock paint this is very highly unusual, but in this circumstance, it does make sense
Mudflaps on an X5M that’s funny |

Are the front edges of the doors protruding out further than the fender where the rust is? It looks like they must be.. That seems like it would be a problem.

Actually doesn’t look too bad / I’ll go have have a convo this week w/my body guy - (we where techs together 20+ ago) - Then I’ll go deal W /BMW - Dealer and BMW N/A and see what I can accomplish - Thanks for pics and idea 👍🏼- 7/1 - Update- here I’ll include better images take a look - nothing protruding/ as per - Ie : Stock Gappng and stock paint - 70k mi - You’ll see PPF in images also starting to delaminate/ peel from bottom -pass side front edge of side skirts . / I plan on rectifying this asap - But In My Eyes - I Absolutely With out a doubt believe this to BE A BMW ERROR IN DESIGN! - very simply- Drive your car thru a minor rainstorm or ? Watch the travel of dirt debris - it sweeps past this area - literally like sandblasting the area small amounts at a time, especially when cornering and or turning - now the type of tire you’re going to be running, is also going to amplify and or diminish the speed this happens at-also the environment you live in, but the long short of it is this is Bmw’s fault not mine! There’s a reason the car was PPF’d with 0 miles - at a cost of just about $7500 from roof to bottom skirts. 70,000 miles is really not that much. So here we are .

Not sure if I grasp this tale. You bought this car when? From the Ford dealer that issued you the temp tags. Did you not inspect car prior to purchase or was damage done since purchase? My head hurts, but mud flaps are answer even with MPSS ON 612s

sshh, it's 2023 we are not allowed to call people out when of their stories don't' line up. You'll scare them.
Like when a 20yr+ body tech does not know/can't tell that PPF does not cover the leading edges of panels. Even when you can easily see a clear PPF line before the edge or has lint stuck in it. |
