I do agree, it makes sense to do it. Opens up a few mounting options, but I still have that voice in the back of my head. Going on about doing it OEM style.

Does anyone know if that green o-ring needs to be replaced as well? Just realised I didn't order it and its like 100+AUD local (or 80USD from US).
*EDit* Ok Grady, where is my angle grinder at? Just found that the 2nd piece is broken and it looks like the PCV hose is busted. It has allot more oil moisture in it compared to 5-8. If you’re talking about the green o-ring on the pcv pipe then i think it comes with pipe, it did when i replaced mine.
But i thought it was your intake boot that got cracked. Did you get to replace it? |

Had the AN bungs welded up, fitted the bank 1-4 PCV valve adapter. Full pipes fitted.
I do need to clean the weld oxides, but that's for another day. Really wanted those I'll fitting silicon bends out of there. This is enough, for now. |

hey all!!! If I made those turbo inlets out of carbon fiber - one piece. how many of you would want to buy them?
lets say the cost per set would be around $500... solid one piece carbon fiber looks the same shape as oem one just no ruffles... $500 is just a rough estimate but I guess it would probably cost in roams of that to get it going and make them... let me know what you all think but I would be down to make it... (not me but the manufacturer I know)

I thought SR or someone else was already deep in R&D these. Didn't wanna self advertise. Yeah, if anyone wants a full set (aluminium billet turbo inlets, welded aluminium pipes, silicon connectors) happy to get a set together or the individual parts.
The welding/cutting and CNC machine is not my work. It all goes out to pros, just my designs from my 3D scans. The Alu pipes can have a 90° factory stile attachment to allow clip on to the factory PCV hose. The billet inserts allow you to take the Alu pipe and the 90° silicon hose it slides into off the turbo whilst leaving the inserts bolted to the turbo. So you are not messing with that o-ring like the factory pipe. Everything just bolts up. Pricing is not going to be cheaper than Cbozz, (billet CNC parts). If people are interested, can dig up the what the total $$ was. Of the top of my head and conversations with the CNC shop and welder. The BOM on this would be close to $900-ish. Prob would go down if doing bulk (10+). Also, do have the PCV valve cover to AN (or plain threaded) adapters. (The boss fitting in the top right COTS). On mine it take 30s to remove both the pipes as you don't need to remove the billet inserts. Just undo the 2x T-bolt clamps and pull pipe out. The billet inserts stay where they are so no PITA of removing that internal bolt or messing with the turbos o-rings. I don't know about the $$$ killing, the OE pipes are cheap but the R&D + material cost on these is not. This is an aging platform and these pipe will only work with F85/F86 as the 50i have different turbo insert side. The days when owners of this platform would spend $1,000 USD on a single flat piece of Carbon fibre that would do f*ck all, but discolour and look ugly AF, are all gone. This platform has been a fun and I've learned quite a bit from it. Most reliable vehicle I've had to date, though, has it's own character like anything else. This would be interesting if the price would get down to $500 a set and having it thermal coated to resist heat from the engine bay…

The other options is to skip the custom Female to AN Flapper clip on adapter and simply break of the clips and the use a 1" heater hose. ie. or thread into front of the flapper valve( as per https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=52). If breaking clip route, the 1" heater hose fits perfect over the flapper valve o-ring and over -12AN male side. But for this you would need to run a -12AN 90° Female to male. Also welding on a simple 90° bended 1" pipe is not really a good solution as whilst the meterial cost is low, the labor hours would not be. The issue with doing this route is that you need to hit the angle to where the flapper valve is positioned fairly accurately. If you are off, the valve will either hit that metal shroud covering the turbos or the HPFP wiring. Hence, the labor cost of dicking around with the angle. Quote:
