I got my iDrive flashed, but I need to activate the headunit now? I know this is possible in ISTA, but for some reason I don't have the software update option available in ISTA+. Programming is enabled, as is programming over ENET in the configuration file for ISTA. I have all the sp_daten files loaded.

Why can I not activate my HU via ISTA? Does this require an ICOM? Is there any other way to do this?

You can use Esys for flashing.
The software update option should be available but would it would be grayed out when trying to calculate measures.

I did use esys for the flash. But after the flash I am now stuck with a head unit that needs to be initialized. That initialization is in the INPA+ Software Update screen (which is grey for me and I can’t get there) but it isn’t a flash.

Why would my INPA+ software update be unavailable?

Is there any other way to initialize my HU?

Ah, ISTA+ was looking at a registry key for enabling programming and not paying attention to the .configuration file. Updated the reg key and software update became active.

I flashed the Head Unit to go from ID5 to ID6. After flashing the HU it behaved like it was a factory fresh part, and needed to be initialized which is a simple process in ISTA+ in Software Update, Additional Software, Initialize HU. I think this only supposed to happen if you get a new factory fresh HU installed. Not sure, but mine did it.

All my googling shows only a couple people had this happen (who posted about it). It's an easy extra step, but you need a functional ISTA+ install which was what I was fighting.

If you didnt have carplay from factory then you will have to patch carplay again.

So I tried updating today but after flash navigation is stuck on loading and I have check engine light? Previously I was on NBTEvo_L and had CarPlay activated using USB method. Do I need ISTA to clear fault codes? I can’t even check to see what version it is on since navigation is not accessible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your flashed removed patch that was previously loaded by USB .bin file. Now all FSC Codes are rejected. Need new FSC Code solution. PM sent.

If EVO is retrofitted, understand that for a non factory fitted ECU, its I-Step Shipment is most likely not the same as the car's I-Step Shipment. The correct I-Step Shipment is one where the ECU being flashed has HWEL in svt_soll that is Black, not Red / Blue.

So after you calculate SVT Target (SVT_soll), check the box that says "HW-IDs from SVTactual" and then Save it. If HWEL is Black only, no Red / Blue HWEL, then you can proceed to flash it.

No matter what I do, I get red, blue lines and one black.

If using an ENET Cable, Flash by VIN not Gateway URL.

I'm trying to flash nbtevo retrofit (hw4) into e92 m3 using enet. So the ethernet pins are connected to the nbt directly through OBD2 port. Not sure if I'll be able to get connection via VIN to work?

I've just completed the flash, but upon the screen coming back on, the navigation isn't clickable? Does anyone know what would have happened and what I can do to resolve this please? Thanks

It likely the unit was patched before. You need to patch it again to activate the maps.
PM me i provide the patch for navigation.

That cant be done on the car. You will need a bench setup to VIN flash a retofitted HU! Plus VIN flash will not be enough to retrofit since you will need FSC Pack as well!
