Mine just went off sitting at a stop light... Just filled with gas at Costco. Drives perfect though. 10k on the odometer.

This happened to me twice...it was because of a sensor which apparently there are two of. There's a campaign that says that both has to be replaced...the first time it happened to me, only one was replaced and so it happened again when the second one failed. So the second time, they replaced both. It's really annoying because they have to reprogram the entire car which results in any "coding" done being lost and having to be redone.

Just happened on my 2016 F15 25d.
Car was in service, they checked if the EGR valve was working ok, it was, so they updated the software. Has this fixed it for anyone? They said the EGR valve was usually the problem. The car has 6000 miles. |

Happened to my 2015 F15 5.0 within the first 1000 miles; took it in to the service center they claimed poor quality gas then when they returned the vehicle they said it was a programming update or something; never happened again before selling the vehicle @25k miles. Ran like a dream.

I got the warning today after a short, high RPM spirited drive. Did the whole shaking at idle. Thankfully I was close to home. Turned the car off for 5 minutes, opened the hood, the restarted the car. Warning was on but quickly went away. I went on a gentle drive to let the engine take in some breeze to cool down.
I was reminded once again that I'm not driving a Pagani I just hope I haven't triggered something bad!

Started the car this morning and this message popped up. Mine is x5 35. Any suggestions guys ? I did fresh oil change few days ago not sure if that would trigger this.. I used bmw oil and filter. I'm feeling slight engine vibration.

Pull the error codes? There are several reasons for a DTMF error.

I had this error a few months back due to faulty fuel pressure regulator/sensor. So it can be many different reasons.

I'd be curious of how they diagnosed the "leaky" injector...especially if you had not noticed any change in performance/driveability prior to the Drivetrain Malfunction.
I'm not going to state the dealer is being untruthful, but sometimes, I believe they will replace items in a shotgun fashion to prevent you possibly being upset with them in the future for something else failing that just happens to cause a similar issue. I think many techs are too reliant on the computer diagnostics....computer tells them cylinder 4 has a misfire, they see you have not changed your spark plugs, but just to be sure they do the fuel injector and spark plugs even though a bad/worn spark plug can cause a misfire just as well. Maybe I'm just lucky, but in 30 years of owning fuel injected cars, I've never had a fuel injector go bad despite keeping many of my cars for a decade and well over 100k miles. Not saying it can't or won't happen, just that I've read about what seems to be a disaportiantly high amount of low mileage BMW's where the dealer replaced fuel injectors for one reason or another. Either way, glad for you that the 50 is fixed for a relatively low amount of money and running like a top.

Well they tested fuel injectors nothing and no errors. This message popped up when the temps went down and it was xtremely cold that day. Dealer is saying it could be due to cold weather condition. A lot of other small things were replaced in my car not related to this error lol. Im kinda happy that i left my car for a checkup. Most importantly they fix ambient lighting issue when both front doors were hardly illuminating.

New member to the DTMF club. Its been very sporadic about when it decides to come on, but this morning after a cold start, i probably have it pop up and disappear 4-5 times in a 10 minute span. Then nothing, car drove like a dream.
I guess I need to schedule an appt and remove my JB4 harness in this blistering winter weather again Side note: how does everyone else here scan their fault codes? This was extremely easy in my Audi ownership days, but cant get a straight/easy answer on these BMW's. |

2nd major drivetrain malfunction with my car now...first one resulted in my engine being replaced.
Got the dreaded message AGAIN today and is sitting with BMW now....my car is definitely cursed. Hoping not too much $ to fix it, out of warranty now |

Had the same problem on my X5. It ended up being a loose positive cable on the battery. For those having the same problem this guide helped a lot: https://www.youcanic.com/guide/fix-b...ive-moderately
