The more I thought about it and especially on the M Sport I agree. These ugly Canadian Winters are tough with the crap on the road. I think the paint would take a beating around the well. I would peel them off on the Winter Tire change and pop them back on when I swapped for my Summers. Just want to make sure I find some good quality spacers.

Here's paint damage from a stock setup after winter driving for a weekend in the Lake Tahoe area last year. If you get spacers in the front, I HIGHLY recommend getting a clear-bra for the lower fenders. BTW, BMW refused to repair this under their paint warranty. |

Your spacer will be ready to ship Monday or Tuesday. The painted reflector will follow once the new batch came back from the bodyshop.

Thankfully enough we don't get much snow out on the Coast anymore, and when we do...no sand on the roads (salt / magnesium brine only). That sandblasting effect above, wow...thats brutal!

Instead it will give you better handling and traction with the wider stance.

There are certainly negative effects to moving your wheel center outward, especially if you have a dynamic suspension. Moving your wheels outward lengthens the effective lever-arm of your suspension, which has the same effect as adding unsprung weight. The effect isn't humongous, but it is real.

By increasing the offset of the wheel, you place more stress on the axles studs, and in a front axle application on the unit bearings and ball joints of the axle. You also increase the tire scrub radius, changing the way the vehicle handles and increasing the difficulty of slow-speed turning. But it looks so cool Last edited by RM707; 10-31-2015 at 05:12 PM.. |

@RM707 , that statement is like saying don't load anything to the car as it will damage the axle stud and hub bearings.
Turning radius wise, it won't be affected since you don't change the tie rod angle radius.

Each of your suspension members is a lever. The end of your system of levers is the tire's contact patch. When you move the contact patch outward, you increase the effective length of the levers. This has the same effect of adding more weight if the levers remain unchanged. Think about a see-saw. A 100-lbs child on a three foot see-saw arm produces the same force as a 50-lbs child on a six foot see-saw arm. By the same principle, the 100 lbs child produces 300 lb-ft of force (torque) on the 3-ft see-saw. Move that child one foot farther out, and your child not produces 400 lbs-ft. The same applies to your wheel when you move it out. Remember that your suspension, especially a dynamic suspension, is tuned for certain forces and weights. If you swap on a heavier wheel and move it outward, you can significantly alter the quality of your suspension. Even moving the same wheels outward has an effect. The size of the effect varies, but it's not true to say there's "no negative effects." Because there are. |

^^ yup
My concern would be during the case of an accident and making an insurance claim. It's the same as having darker than legal tint - not worth the risk IMO. As far as wheels are concerned, just need to fit something aftermarket which widens the track. Though I think we have limitations there where you cannot widen the track more than 26mm. |
