North American F15 M-sports do not have M-logo on the fenders because we got option 3DZ by default.

I don't see why this would be a poser move... its an Msport line and I think its valid.

The problem is people ( like the OP ) wanting to add the ///M on the rear deck next to the X5 which indicates the X5 is a M car which it isn't.

My thoughts that same. The X5 MSport has M badges everywhere. As long as it doesn't say X5M only. I think having X5 M50i seems fitting, IMHO.

I mean... they have X5M50d so why not?

"...have only been able to locate cheap aftermarket hollow versions." Yeah, that ain't gonna cut it, 'cause even though I don't care about the difference between a non-M car and an actual M car, I really want my fake badges to be of the best quality. Yup, nothin' but top shelf stuff for me None of that cheap hollow fakey crap! Only real badges will do when I put fake badges on my fake M car.

My advice is to forget the unnecessary badging and to simply enjoy your X5.

If the manufacturers place a badge anywhere on the car. It belongs there. They are the creators of a certain performing or aesthetically looking vehicles. Such as X5M, X6M, M3/M4, M2/M1. I believe BMW has added certain performance upgrades to warrant the newly M550xi or M235i, and now the M40i. Some people may or may not get confused with this new badging with the true M cars but, when a owner purposely adds a ///M on the rear deck of a non M car they are doing two things... 1. Misleading others to think they have a top of the line performance model trim. 2. Making themselves look like an asshat/moron/idiot/poser/faker/ (insert any other loser title).

Adding an ///m badge on the side fenders or wheels, front spoilers, side skirts, rear quarter panel in a tastefully way IMO is okay. Why? Because BMW does not identify their M cars in this way and there is no confusion or anyone trying to mislead others that it's a M car.

That's my thoughts.

Asshat!! 🤣

Agreed... the worse is when you see an M3 badge on 328i with 16" wheels. Who are you really fooling???

Arrogance!!!!

I joined this Forum, like most of you, to befriend like minded people that own BMW’s. In my first post to this forum I asked a simple question and received many unfavorable comments to this question. I immediately abandoned the idea of attaching a M Badge on my Non M X5 rear deck. I appreciated the feedback and understood that it wasn’t something that I should do, however, there is one particular individual in this forum, you know who you are, that took pleasure in mocking me and the content of my original post, shame on you, because you don’t represent the majority of great people that give constructive criticism, offer great suggestions, help with so many questions and make this forum what it is!
I’m sure that you’ve heard the expression “If you don’t have something nice to say, (in your case constructive) don’t say anything at all”! Your post was rude, arrogant, condescending and you were being a total D! Ok, I’ve said my piece!

Thanks to the rest of you for all your comments negative/positive and your advice! Cheers, Sarge....Y’all have a great Weekend . GO SOX:cool!!

Op, I hope my posts clearly explains why it's not a good idea to add a badge on the rear deck next to the X5. However, it's your car so you can absolutely do what you want.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your X5!

Unfortunately for you, your first post stepped in a pile of $hit by hitting on a highly controversial topic for many BMW enthusiasts. That is the reason for the litany of opinionated posts following your original question. Frankly, I'm surprised it’s been as civilized as it has! Additionally, I'm shocked no one posted the emoji as this topic has been covered a lot over the years and I think you now know the general thinking around here. Don't take it personal!

Moving on... there is a wealth of knowledge here and most folks are happy to offer their help. I'm sure your next question won't hit such a nerve. Now, enjoy your X5 and let us know when your ready to start modding!
