2016 X5 SDrive35i M-Sport
Clogged sunroof drain on the front passenger side. What a nice surprise puddle in the passenger footwell! Probably going to cut off the pinched tip under the wheel well. |

2015 X5 35d bought Dec 31, 2020 w/ 84900 miles. So far have replaced battery (105A single bat) as it was throwing lots of bus communication errors and had 2 injectors replaced (cylinder 1 & 2) at the dealer to the tune of $880. Was throwing codes for the injectors:
24BB00 - Zero quantity adaptation injector cylinder 1: permissible filtered control duration too high 2A6800 - Smoothness controller cylinder 1: correction amount outside the allowable range 24BF00 - Zero quantity adaptation injector cylinder 2: permissible filtered control duration too high Have not had the intermittent CEL in 500 miles. Hope that continues. I had these done at the dealer in the hopes that sometime in the future MY 2015 gets added to the fuel injector extended warranty TSB like MY 2016, 2017 and numerous other MY 2015, 2016, and 2017 models/chassis w/ the diesel engines. If they add MY 2015 should be easy enough to get reimbursement having had the work done at the dealer Only issues left are the peeling leather dash (PO abused this poor thing) and having to disable audio streaming on our phones because it was randomly shitting down the NBT and causing it to restart. Has not done it since disabling. So far, really enjoying "upgrading" from the E70 diesel to F15. Doesn't handle near as nice, unless all adaptive drive options set to sport (but then it holds gears really long for sporty acceleration), but is so much more comfortable on a road trip. Especially with all the driver's assist/cruise stuff. |

F16 downpipe issues
Hey guys, I am new to the site, trying to get a solution to get my evap monitor to run so I can pass inspection in MA. The main reason for my problem is that I have a stage 2 DME tune with a downpipe done to it, now it won't pass inspection, I removed the tune, drove it for nearly 1K, still not running, anyone had to cross that bridge with their 2016 X6M prior?
Please help!! |

See the chart below...and follow what is needed (on the top side of the chart) to complete the test cylce that is listed on the bottom half of the chart. You can see it only takes about 20 minutes and some specific driving situations. Your personal drive cycle must not be long enough or slow/fast enough for that particular TEST to be completed. Good luck:

Broken Drive Shaft
My BMW X5 2014 is at 113,000 Km and I have no issue with the car since I own it. Last week, while driving the car to send my son to school, it suddenly had a loud metal hitting under the car. I have pulled the car over and take a look underneath. The drive shaft was disconnected and come out (see photo).
I could not believe what has happened. After towing the car to the BMW dealer, I was told that the shaft damaged the gearbox and transmission which will cost me $19000 AUD to have them replaced. Somehow BMW agreed that this should be a defect and agreed to pay for the parts. However, I still have to pay for the installation which is $3000 AUD. I wonder whether anyone has had the same issue? and should BMW be responsible for all the repair costs? |

can't figure brake controller
Someone please help.
I have a 2015 X5 I bought used. It already has a towing hitch installed, and someone also installed a Tekoncha Trailer Wiring Light Kit Harness Kit Plug (spliced, but with circuit protection), with the 4-pole connector (this is just for lights). I recently got a lightweight camper trailer, which will weight 4,500lbs max when loaded. I wanted to install a brake controller, and dived into research, forums, etc. All say to look for the BMW towing harness, located either behind the trunk rear passenger panel, or underneath the dash in the footwell. I swear my F15 just doesn't have that 4-plug connector in neither places. Is that possible? Could it be that my F15 came from factory without the harness? Other threads said the harness was hidden in the wiring. I have looked everywhere and removed more panels then needed. Just NO trace of it. The generic wiring diagram on the brake controller says to tap into a brake pedal switch cold side. Would this make the modules go crazy, since it may sense the voltage change? I thought I could simply do that, provided it would have no consequences... Any better ideas, please let me know. Thanks is advance! |

The CANBUS 2 pin connector is what is hidden in the wiring loom that you have to dig for, IF installing the OEM harness. Looking at this picture of the OEM Harness - https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/710004_x800.webp You can see at 4:30 (lower right corner) the 4 pin hookup for the trailer brake controller. You'll have to tap some wires for your trailer brake controller. In regards to the electrical, I am unsure. Good luck! Last edited by scotty339; 05-31-2021 at 10:01 AM.. |

Electrical Issues
I have a 2014 X5 with the M sport package. I bought the car as a CPO and bought the extended warranty in 2017 with 28K miles on it. It now has 63K and has been in the dealer since March 18. It originally went into the dealership with a malfunction drive error which was diagnosed as a bad fuel injector. Injector was replaced and I got a phone call from dealer stating the car wouldn't start. The battery checked out as good and they told me the alternator was bad so they replaced it. Called me and told me it was ready and I proceeded to pick it up. Picked up the car drove it about 5 miles and the check engine light came on so I turned around and gave it back to them. To make a long story short they replaced the IBS, BDC, and the DME and the problem with the check engine light still isn't solved. They have had the BMW engineers out and still isn't resolved. I sent a letter to the CEO of BMW North America and I got a phone call from them 2 days later. I have given them approximately $1000 dollars during this time for "Diagnostic Time" and still not fixed. I told BMW I need to be compensated. Waiting to hear back from them and will let you know what BMW is going to do. I have had 2 X5's, I have a 2003 M3 and a 2013 328I. When I get the X5 back I will be getting rid of it and will get another. My compensation I want from BMW is that they buy my X5 from me so I can get another, they compensate me for the money that I have given them and the down time that I have been without my vehicle. The corporate Rep is suppose to let me know next week as to what kind of compensation they will give me. All of electrical issues happened while it was at the dealership with the exception of the fuel injector. Vehicle never had a starting problem or a check engine light problem.I am no master mechanic but I am no dummy either but an alternator creating this electrical issue? Hmmmmm

I have 2014 x5 30d with rear suspension issue. At first car was sagging on one side so rear suspension bags were changed to brand new Arnott bags. After this the car decides to lift itself extra high on drivers side whenever it feels like. As such the following was carried out.
Compressor was changed Ride height sensors changed (rear) EHC control unit changed Relay was burnt and this was changed too Every time each of these parts were changed the ride height was recalibrated on the computer. However the car is still deciding to lift itself on one side. About 20mm higher than the passenger side which is at normal height. |
