My new trailer.. I'm really pushing the limit with it because the hitch weight is 630 😬

The fact that there is no slop in the connection, like you have with regular square tubing receiver hitches, is great! The no slop goes for both back and forth, and sideways, due to the design. None of that "thunk" every time you stop hard, or take off at a stop sign, and no sideways movement either. |

I did get one of those Curt Switchballs or whatever they are called and that has been great so far when using one drop height for multiple trailers. |

It comes with one height, and the two extra's are $119 each+shipping and tax. So under $300 is the extra cost factoring in taxes and shipping, if you add the two other sizes. Now, if you didn't get the 2" receiver for bike racks, when you ordered the hitch. Factoring that in, you are now getting closer to the $500 that 2one8 mentioned, but I'd say around $400 is more realistic if you need all of them. But if you know your height, the included one and an extra, plus possibly the 2" receiver is all you should need. So back to under $300. I used a Uhaul trailer a while back, and realized I need the 7" height, since I'm lowered. So I just ordered that one, and now will have all the sizes they sell, except the extended out one. I bought my hitch before I was lowered. Had I known I would not have ordered the flat style one. Would have saved me $120. Anyway, I have used the old style 2" receivers with everything from small trailers, to quite heavy trailers, and the no "thunk" is worth the extra cost for me. But there is nothing wrong with old system, been used and proven for many years... ...and to honor the name of the thread, here is a picture! (notice front end of Uhaul is a bit low, worked but I didn't like it) |

M3HNGRY, mine has even less movement than the ones in the videos. I can't even replicate the metal to metal sound in the second video.
Now, there will always be some movement in a connection like this, but compared to the old school 2" square receivers, these StealthHitches are way way better/tighter... |

Mine has zero movement, but I've only had it for about a year. With more use they will surely start wiggling around as components start to get worn down. As long as its not flopping around all willy nilly or not locking, it should be fine.

I've seen so many trailers on here as big as mine though. Isn't anyone else worried about exceeding the 600 lb max?? |

I recently got my X5 and it came with a Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2"
What do you guys cover your tow hitch with when not in use? Any tips on fixing the chipped high-gloss black powder coat finish? I'd like to cover it up since it's got some light rust, but also have been looking for bumper protection (living in the city). Anyone have this on their F15? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009YFNXQ/ |

Once you add gear to your trailer you can load more towards the rear to counter the tongue weight, but you want to make sure you don't take too much weight out of the front. But, depending on what your trailer weighs empty you might not be able to do much for loading it. Last edited by ///d; 07-30-2021 at 03:59 AM.. |

If too much weight all the way back in trailer, if you start swaying, that weight will likely make the sway way worse, and it will be harder to get out of the sway, depending on how much weight you have there. ///d is right about making sure to have enough weight on the ball, but even if you have enough weight on the ball, too much weight in the back is still bad. |

Just finished about 6,000-mile round trip to Badlands, Yellowstone/Grand Teton, Glacier in Montana from east coast. My 2015 X5D with Invishitch and Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller did well with loaded 18-foot Forest River R-Pod about 3,000-pound. Carried 2 full-size spare wheels/tires (one for TT, and one for X5 on the reinforced TT hitch/carrier, which also carries 2 2,000W generators in the box, and 5-gallon gas tank) Drove about 65 miles/hour freeways, gas efficiency reduced to about 18 miles/gallon comparing >30 miles/gallon without TT. On the way back, had to added 3 gallons of DEF (most in active tank, but tank is still not full after 3 gallons added) because the car gave 1000-mile DEF warning although both DEF tanks were filled up before the trip, I believe it was due to excessive gas usage from towing.
