Sorry to hear that, bud. Hopefully, you can move onto something better in the future. Plenty of members come to you for help with installation and advice, so BMS lost a good vendor...their loss.

So sorry my friend. It must be stupid since you are clearly a great source of referrals for them. Maybe now you can come on over to the Racechip side! Regardless, I am sorry if you have not been treated correctly. you have helped so many here.

Thank you guys for the support. Greatly appreciated.
My apology for not being so useful on new finding lately, been busy on this holiday season.
I have a few codings that still on the back burner and some few mods.

Bought the BMS JB N63/N63tu Stage1 tune. So much snow that I have not been able to open her up and see yet!

However, does this tune result in the requirement of shorter oil change intervals?

It shouldn't matter. The oil change intervals is depending on how hard you drive and age of the oils.

Well that is based on a normal car under the BMW service agreement. They cannot tell how hard you drive the car or if you put a tune chip in.

I would imagine that with the tune chip, it puts more stress on the engine (within tolerable levels obviously) but would break down the oil at a faster rate.

So, would you change the oil twice per year instead of the BMW service schedule of 10,000 miles or whatever it is and 12 months?

Even if you didn't get this tune, learning to change the oil is a wonderful skill, and on an X5, probably doesn't even need to be lifted up.

If possible, do the freebies with BMW ands still do it every 5-7500 miles yourself.

The engine with or without a tune will adjust the frequency of the needed oil change by itself.
Of course changing oil more frequently doesn't hurt the engine, it just will hurt the environment and your wallet (unless if money is not a factor here).
My oil change requirement indicator goes down at lesser miles after some long distance driving. I'm not sure how it knows, but I know that it happened.
As far as putting more stress on the engine, you are far from putting the engine to the limit if you are just driving the car on the street.
What I've done to my car, is putting the engine to a stress. But, by just driving on the street with a tune, you are not putting more stress on the engine as just driving on the stop and go traffic.

Thanks and good to know. Interesting, that the car somehow monitors when the oil will need to be changed, not just on a mileage or date schedule.

It knows by looking at engine coolant temps, mileage, average speed, actual time running (like a hobbs meter) and RPM limits. If you run a couple of these up (like sitting in traffic on a hot day and then high RPM like a track event), then the monitor will call for an earlier oil change.

Since I own my car, I always change my oil between 5,000 and 7,000 miles. Since the first oil change for the F15 is normally at 10,000 miles, I changed my own at 5,000 miles so I will have 5,000 mile change intervals. With the tight engine tolerances requiring clean lubrication, the cleaning properties of oil needed for the diesel engines, the cooling properties of quality oil, and the various components using oil pressure to work (like the VGT), changing the oil more frequently than 10,000 miles is cheap insurance for such a high-priced, complex vehicle.

so what's next? Is the RC chip still available? Are you gonna sell Dinan?

If not, are they similarly installed? Just trying to understand how invasive i have to be.

For reference, I'm coming from a Heico Sportive Piggyback tune, which was insanely invasive and has turned me off completely to this - unless it's simpler and easily removable.

2 completely different companies: 1) BMS (BURGER TUNING) 2) RACECHIP

Both have similar easy installs on 35i and 35d (under 5 min). 50i is more complicated on RaceChip (20-30 min) than with BMS (1-3 min).

r33 is there a pdf to show installation steps? at the price you're selling it for, it's almost a no brainer to do this. (assuming i go with the 50i, but I can't ever leave anything stock)

Burger Tune is different than Race Chip.
BMS tune for N63tu motor on the X5 xDrive50i is plugged to the MAF sensor.
While RaceChip is plugged into the MAP sensor.
As opasha mentioned, the BMS is 1-3 minutes install, while the RaceChip is much more complicated install. Gain wise, I would say it is up to par.

Unfortunately, since it is very very easy, I didn't make the PDF installation steps.
You can refer to BMS installation instruction.
http://www.burgertuning.com/instruct...e1_install.pdf

For the X5 xDrive50i, use the page 12.
The instruction is for F10 550 or F12 650. The only difference, on the X5, the sensor is facing outside, so it is much easier as you don't need to route the harness away from the motor or even open the engine cover.
