Performance Exhaust on Luxury line bumper x35i

Question for you all,

I just leased a x35i Luxury Line x5 and wanted to look into the Performance Exhaust for it. My question is will the larger square tips fit in the small opening currently there housing the circle tips? It looks like a shop might have to dremel out the area for them to fit.

Mine looks just like this picture.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Might have found a lead, part 51127384333 is the bottom black plastic part that is removable. I can order the one for the x50i with the squarish tips for like $138

Hope it works but I can't see how. Here's an xline vs msport:

I think the OP was talking about ordering the part for a 50i lux line - all lines for the 50i have the trapezoidal tips.

You will need to order the bottom plastic piece that have the correct opening for the M Sport tip.

Bumper is one piece in M Sport, what you want is 50i tip, not M Sport tip. They are different. 50i tip is narrow, M Sport tip is wider.

So you need to get the 50i Bumper Bottom Piece + 50i Exhaust Tip, here is the difference between M Sport and 50i

*It's a GIF.

Correct, my mistake. Here is the link of the diagram.
For non M Sport bumper, you need to get the 50i muffler tip with the new bottom part of the bumper.
Which is #1 in the diagram.

I wonder if someone can fabricate tips that can be installed on top of or around the round, or just an aftermarket cut & clamp tips on 35i because the bumper has a lot of room for a flared tip.
Maybe someone who is prototyping aftermarket exhaust for their X5 can also look into that by examining someone else's 35i. HINT HINT! @r33

Well, the thing is, how many people with Non M Sport bumper 35i, want to change their looks into sporty look.
That's why I and others in the market only aiming on the M Sport bumper. Also keep in mind that X5 is a small market also.

I get it now. How much would it cost in parts and labor to go from 35 to 50 exhausts?

It should be doable for free - about 5 minutes to find and download a GIF maker, five minutes to find suitable photos and about 3 minutes to align the overlay. About 15 minutes in total using freeware...

OR ...

Lots of helpful info in this thread, thanks all!

I will be looking to do this in the near future, only question is will the 50i tips fit the performance exhaust without modifications?

No, you will need the M Sport rear bumper.

I had it done on my xline 35i. What @r33 said was correct. You will need to order a different set of tips for the muffler. The bundle at getbmwparts.com comes with the wrong (Msport) tips. see:http://parts.bmwofbridgewater.com/sh...sembly=6214502
The ones I ordered was PN 18302349212, and the ones in the bundle are the Msport tips (note the trapezoid is upside down).
Also, the bumper (valence) piece is the same as the 50i valence of the corresponding lines, instead of the Msport valence.

I was able to get my local bmw dealer to match the online price and they charged $220 for installation. Hope this helps.
