Goodbye X5 - BMW accept request to reject!

I've just had confirmation from my leasing company that my request to formally reject my X5 has been accepted with financial 'backing' of BMW.

I've probably missed this so what's the story?

My X5 has developed more than its fair share of problems in the four months that I have had it. Some of the problems my dealer has fixed (eventually) and some they have not. It has been to the dealer over a dozen times and I've had enough of it! It's not as if it's the best SUV I've ever driven, in fact there's nothing sufficiently outstanding about any aspect of it that might encourage me to live with its faults.

I wrote a four page report for the leasing company identifying sixteen such problems and they have agreed to terminate my contract and take the car back.

What's next for you or have you purchased a replacement?

I am glad to hear you got what appears to be a fair resolution.

2015 Cayenne S e-Hybrid is favourite, though I really like the look of the new XC90 T8 Hybrid too. I've got two weeks to make up my mind - I'm definitely going plug in Hybrid though.

The down side to my situation is that I'm going to be without a car for 5-6 months!

Have you test driven the C-H? I did. The transition from battery power to gas left a lot to be desired as it produced a jolt almost every time. I loved the GTS though. The nicest interior look bar non, when in full leather. The H also loses the spare as that is where it holds the batteries.

Tech is a bit outdated, but hey, we can't upgrade cars every time we upgrade phones. Or can we?

Volvo. Can't comment. Have not driven.

Did you consider a Merc GL?

I haven't driven the Porsche yet, did you drive the latest 2015 'plug-in' Hybrid version or the older type?

I tested a '14. It was noticeably less smooth in power source transition than Prius.

@CatFlap Really sorry to hear of all the problems. I know you reported a noisy transmission from the get go.

Mind sharing what the other issues were?

@CatFlap, sorry to hear your experience.
Do show your Cayenne though when you get it.
I am not feeling the Volvo though.

Sorry to hear of your negative experience.
Would be good to share what your issues were - I feel the opposite to you about the F15; love it. I've had virtually no problems with mine. Was yours built on a Friday afternoon

Please, don't go for a Volvo, pleaseeeeeee

I'll post the list once the X5 is gone and my lease agreement is formally cancelled. Don't want to do anything to jeopardise the arrangement with leasing co. & BMW.

I've managed to arrange a 6 month hire deal for a brand new Discovery HSE so at least I'll be ok if it snows at Christmas!

The range sport is nice, cayenne is a little outdated, still nice whit facelift and always a safe premium bet

Cayenne handling is first rate - I love the steering feel too. It is also sooo much better in the reliability area

will appreciate considering the New X6 and issues could be similar. I sat in new discovery black edition other than seats the interior is really disappointing. Your thoughts vs X5?

A Disco! I take it you have a 24 recovery agreement with your leasing company

It's a hire car so don't really care! If it busts (or i bust it) they'll take it away and bring another...considering it's a brand spanking new metallic red HSE with cream leather, big rims, extra toys and it's cheaper to hire that than the lease on the X5 (per month). Might keep hiring it if it's ok
