looks good. Those coilovers are pretty low in price...curious to hear your impression of them.
How is the fitment/quality of the RW carbon lip? Any close up pics of the lip fitment?

Looking good. It looks like the rear is squatting compared to the front, probably just the angle of the shot. I definitely prefer a slight rake angle. Are you running wheel spacers? Nice job.

I have them cranked just about all the way down, I have barely a 2 finger gap from fender to top of tire front and rear. They ride a little rigid that low, not terrible but def stiffer then stock. I'm also running Forgestar f14s 22x12s in the rear so it's super aggressive and fits nice. The RW carbon lip fits perfect because they installed and used it for their website lol

Keep an eye on the RW carbon weaves.. I have the rear mirror caps from RW and the weaves are starting to separate after about a year.
Love the wheels.

Is there a specific tool....Can the average Joe do it w/o having to run to the mechanic?
Does the ride soften as you go "up"? Sorry for the many questions, am interested, but the rough ride may discourage if it extends to all levels! |

Yeah, there's a special wrench and average Joe can do it, but it will require taking a wheel off, so I would say at least a garage and jack stands are needed. Also, you can adjust damping force - to make it more comfy a bit. However, spring rates are a bit too high IMHO 14/12 kg/mm - that's going to be noticeably harsher than stock. However, this is the price you pay for better handling and less body roll IMHO - there's no free cheese Ride will not become softer as you raise height because in this coilover setup MR implemented this: "separate spring perch height and shock length adjustment allowing you to retain full suspension stroke" - so that's good and bad. Good because you will have full stroke even on lower height, but bad because ride will not get any softer when you raise height Bottom line is you need to ride in a car with coilovers to feel it, before you commit to it. Also, you NEED to have a mindset ready for firmer ride - there's no way to keep soft stock ride and improve handling and reduce body roll - no way. Usually people who are ready for this sacrifice - they get positive experience, while people who still think that magic will happen and maybe they will retain stock comfy ride AND get all benefits of better handling and less body roll - they get disappointed |

I am worried about my wife, not me. I can accept the harsher ride, just not sure if wife can. Do you think using KW V3 will be a similar experience? |

So if we can find spring rates for KW3 and stock x5 spring rates - we can compare pretty accurately. My bet is stock is about 11/9 kg/mm, so it's about 25% softer ride, but it's just my guess. I tried googling for spring rates, but to no avail |

Looks great!
I plan on wrapping the top of my wife's X5 when it comes in (which hopefully will be today). It should look a lot like yours, minus the coilovers and wheels. I don't think she'd go for it! What percentage of tint did you go with? She's on the fence about tinting her front windshield. Thanks! |

Just to add to this thread - Godspeed Momomax Coilovers (mmx3810) have also just come to market if anyone was looking for another cheap alternative to the KW's. From what I gather they may be made in the same facility as Megan. Anyway, just found them on eBay but can't find them on their site just yet.
Godspeed Spring rates are 14kg/mm front and 9kg/mm rears Megan Spring rates are 14kg/mm front 12kg/mm rears |
