I thought you were referring to the "better" resolution 6WB like how the new 5series has.

Who knows when we will receive the better 6WB.

I don't think we will ever receive the new 6WB like the one the new 5 series on this generation X5.

I was referring to getting a good price on a new 6WB to do the retrofit. Im not looking to spend 2k for an outdated gadget.

I'd like to know about this as well.

It also looks like there might be another or new part number for the display: 62108781321 - is this newer? looks to have been used after 01/02/2017 - might be higher resolution?

6WB in the LCI 3/4 series has better resolution although it has the same graphics. I tested it. I have the "old one" in my car (2017). Now that it is available in the US for the first time I wonder if it is the one with better resolution. Still not as good as in the new 5 but better.

I read your installation steps and was wondering if you could help me clarify some things.

1) If I decide to switch back to my 6WA will I have to do any recoding or will it just work normally right after installation?

2) How difficult is it to code the 6WB to work on my car? I'm pretty computer savvy but have never used E-SYS the only coding I've done is with Bimmercode

Thank you

I can tell you that it'll work just fine when/if you switch back to 6WA because I put it back in mine every time it needs to be reprogrammed.

I didn't mode mine so I can't answer that second part but it didn't look too difficult when I watched my buddy do it.

1) You can put back your 6wa anytime, no recoding required.

2) It's really very easy, almost as easy as using Bimmercode. You just need to spend some time in original "coding thread" to understand VO coding. Download E-SYS and follow this video, literally. That's it!

What's the name of this video? I want to add it to my YouTube to reference later. But this doesn't come up when I search just that title show. Here. Weird.

Yea that's wired. This video is actually posted on the first page of the "Coding thread", I would just download it or search for that thread if I need to watch it.

Thank you!

I have 6WB cluster which is not virginized. It is used cluster but it has less mileage than my car. Would I still need to virginize it before coding? If yes, can you provide some links to guides on how to do it.

Thanks a lot!

Indeed it has red dot. I just had a practice on different car. I have bought R270 but how do I actually virginize 6WB module? There is bits and pieces on the internet but it would be great to find step by step EEPROM virginize guide.

Thanks a lot!
