Clearplex didn't stop these rocks..

What a day! Driving down the highway when two rocks come flying at me and nail my windshield. Fortunate thing is that I have ClearPlex on my windshield and I heard that their new warranty program will cover if the glass breaks...hope that's true.

I agree. My 640 windshield got chipped easily. My X5M windshield was cracked during transport and I've been waiting since November for a replacement.

Don't be surprised guys.
The glass are thinner these days to save weights. Lighter car = more mpg's.
Downsides though, easy to chip, crack, etc, and more road noise and wind noise that you can hear through the thin glass.
Between E60 and F10 and F15, the E60 had best road noise insulation. Second would be the F15. The F10 somehow I can hear a whistling noise from the windshield.

I just had my windshield replaced under warranty last week. A crack developed at the bottom of the windshield. It spread upward about 12" and then across by 10". Only 2 months old. I recall my E90 windshield had so many pits in it from regular driving.

OP...so how did it go with ClearPlex? Did they cover replacing your windshield? How much did the product/install run? I'm thinking about adding their product to the ever growing list of things to protect this car and would like your opinion. Obviously didn't prevent yours from getting broken, but have read a couple of others that took rocks that they stated it prevented the windshield from being broken.

Here in Colorado, after about 3-4 years we have to replace the windshield anyway just due to pitting. I'm thinking that at $2-300 every 1 1/2 to 2 years for a like new windshield may be a worthy investment and if their warranty is good then if something does happen, cheap insurance.

I'm still waiting on ClearPlex to provide a resolution (it's been over a month). From what I hear, they will cover up to $1,500.

Installation was $250 for me however they seem to have raised the price to $400. With that and the struggle I faced trying to get a hold of them, I would not go forward with ClearPlex again.

Clearplex stopped all the majority of the rocks however there will be an indentation in the material that makes your windshield look terrible. In addition, I'm facing quite a bit of lines that look like scratches all throughout.

Update: Clearplex finally came through and sent me a check for the amount of the windshield.

Though I still won't go with them again because of how it leaves a indentation when any rock hits the window and the slight scratches that appeared.
