Here the vid of my noise.

The sound, sounds like its coming from the left side and is mostly prominent from this side. Turning right does not seem to start allot of ticking, and its very faint, and not as consistent as the left turn.

Wanted to circle back on this as I just noticed today that my clicking has returned with a vengeance. Turning right at slow speed. It's very obviously coming from left front. Even ticks faintly while driving straight. I had my front axles replaced last October under warranty which solved the clicking at the time. Looks like I will suggest the washer TSB to my indy now that I'm out of warranty.

Keep us posted. We have the same issue and still have several months of CPO coverage. My wife doesn't want to part with her X5 M until later this year.

Left tie rod, as odd as it seems, fixed my ticking noise. BMW corporate had to get involved and recommended the fix.

My Indy suggested bringing it back to dealer that replaced my axles. He thinks it's them for sure. Hoping dealer will fix and cover even though I'm out of warranty now. Can't get in until the 18th. Stay tuned.

Axles didn’t fix mine, was tie rod, again, corporate got involved. They paid, out of warranty here too. Took near 10 days of endless fixes to figure out, nothing work but the tie rod.

Brief Update. Dealer is telling me that there is "corrosion on mating surfaces between the wheel, rotor and wheel bearing." Their solution is to clean and lubricate the surfaces for $200. Skeptical this is the issue. Waiting on them to call me back with an update after the work is done. I suspect it will still be ticking and they will go back to the drawing board.

Funny enough the rusting has been a running theory, as the clicking usually goes away, after any work that requires the front wheels to come off. Usually you clean the rust off the hubs/wheels, when you put them back on.

I haven't touched my fronts yet, but my rears where so bad, that if I didn't clean the rust off. I could not mount the wheels flush onto the hubs, without some wobble.

My dealer tried that, for free and nothing. See tie rod above, again, BMW corporate recommendation. Fixed it.

Left my X5// M at dealership for "ticking" among other items. Service advisor is telling me that CPO Wrap will not cover it. Who to call?

Funny, ours is at the Dealership for the same reason and they told us yesterday they are replacing the two front axle shafts under CPO. Call BMW North America (phone number in your manual and/or online).

Good luck!

A small dilemma…took beast in, they charged me $175/diagnostic fee for noise ( I gave them tsb for ailment) , car under platinum CPO wrap….claimed they have to charge me diagnostic time.

Anyway, They rotated tires one bolt hole with rotors fixed…problem seems fixed. I am cheesed off over the 175$ ( diagnostic time….any diagnosis for noise they claim is not covered by wrap). Is this correct..a 6K$ CPO wrap with noise exclusion.

So we picked up the vehicle today regarding the ticking noise. Per the paperwork, "Remove both front wheels, rotated them over one bolt hole. Reinstalled wheels, torque to spec. Test drove again, no noise present at this time."

LOL, that sounds like BS to me. BTW, it looks like the previous owner had the same issue as the paperwork also states, "This concern was addressed about ten months ago. Made a TSARA case 1920200 for further diagnosis."

To answer my own question, the TSB SI B34 05 15 issued 2/18 is alive and well. I had it done and it solved problem for now. As to coverage on Plat CPO Wrap it is covered and is OTIS valid. Now to go discuss this with ASM ( 175$ diagnostic fee) at new BMW dealer's ( to me) ASM before I set down with his service manager, then perhaps dealer, then perhaps BMW corporate.

So wait did they first "rotate the tires by 1 bolt", then it started to tick and then they put in the friction washer? Or was all this done under the same service?

Just reading that TSB, I'm a little confused tho. It says not to scrub hub or wheel surface's, only the rotor. Is this correct?

Also kind of interesting they say not to apply any anti-seize to the rotor-wheel surface, to help with the rust and removing wheels. Is this a no-no on BMWs or is it ok? I applied some copper based, on the rear(no I didn't touch the lugs), when I had the wheels off to do the airbags.

Interestingly enough the F90 M5s have 2x of these washers. One on the hub-rotor side and one rotor-wheel.

No washer at all, first step as , RO states rotated wheel assembly one lug hole & test drive vehicle…noise gone.
What cheesed me off was the "diagnostic fee" of $175.

So they didn't do the full TSB SI B34 05 15, because the end of it has the washer/friction disk.
