RaceChip Pro 2 - Check Engine Light

Maybe this was too good to be true. My racechip pro 2 is set to stock settings which is E0 and yesterday I got a CEL while speeding up to get on the highway. Previously, I had it set to E3 but as the temperature outside got warmer it threw a CEL twice so I decided to set it back to stock racechip settings E0. Now it appears even stock settings are troublesome. The ambient temp outside was 83f with low humidity.

Reached out to the company but have not heard back from them yet. Will keep you all apprised of the situation.

JustAnotherGuy , go ahead contact RaceChip, they should be able to help you with that.

I would remove the RC all together to do one last test before bringing it to the dealer. Could be just the car and not related to the RC

Do you have a code reader to determine the code thrown? You had a very high initial setting, but since it was thrown at recommended stock setting too, I would bet it was triggered by less than quality fuel - not temp related.

I don't have a code reader but as of today I've removed the unit. Waiting for the code to disappear and will try a "higher quality" diesel station.

So were you using a low quality diesel fuel then?

I don't believe so but thinking back it wasn't my normal place.

Update 09/04 -

Yesterday, the CEL light went off shortly after removing the RaceChip.
Today, filled the X5 with BP diesel.
Tomorrow, I will attempt to replicate how I got the CEL light two weeks ago.

Stay tuned. (pun intended )

Update 09/11 -

It's been a week since filling up with BP and I'm happy to report no CEL. I've got on it from a standstill and while on the highway; wet weather, hot weather... I'm 95% sure it must have been bad diesel from SHEETZ. Guess it's was $hitz. Cheers guys.
