Got my 2016 X5 Vin# today!
It won't be long now so I'm starting a thread. This will be my first BMW, pretty exciting.
My X5 build... 2016 X5 xDrive 35i Space Grey Metallic - pretty blah color choices luckily I really like this one. Black Dakota Leather - I love that its not slippery Comfort 20 way seats - I did not want the perforated leather LED lighting package - hell yes! Cold weather package Ceramic controls - I just wanted them happy birthday to me! Fineline oak wood trim Rear view camera - I was 'meh' on the surround view Space saver spare Considerations...I have a bad hip that needs replacing and arthritis in my back so a lower entry/exit height and comfort vs my 4x4 truck was a top priority. Headlight quality was also high on my list. Here in the Pacific NW we get a lot of rain, its frequently dark, foggy, and difficult to see at night and our deer seem to enjoy leaping out in front of you. Lastly I don't get along well with under powered vehicles. I wouldn't say the X5 35i is 'fast' but its quite peppy, 0-60 around 6 seconds which is perfectly acceptable. Crossed off my list... Audi SQ5 - Quick but wow talk about outdated and featureless. Audi Q7 - Too mini van looking for my tastes. MB - Lug nuts available for an additional cost, overpriced imo. Interior just wasn't to my taste, looked like a grandpa vehicle inside. Explorer Sport - In a retarded move that defies logic they down graded the 2016 headlights from HID's to Halogen high beams (face palm). They are playing games restricting the engine power, test drove a Platinum and man it was gutless compared to the Sport yet supposedly has the same 365hp engine. Also typical Ford seats they sucked and there was no room for your left leg. Jeep Grand Cherokee - Sure its got the Hemi V8 yet the Ford smokes it 0-60? Quality is sub-par. Trivia: The last German car I owned was a 1970's made in Germany Mercury Capri, that car was built like a Tiger tank. |

Welcome to the group. Looking forward to your observations.
Are you taking delivery at the dealer or the PC?

I'm taking delivery at the dealer as SC is like 3,000 miles away from my house. Marine mine has been in 'production begins' status for a week or more. Dealer said it will be finished in a week or so. Watching one of the BMW SC factory videos I know that one of the first things they do is establish the vin#.

We just got our VIN today as well for the 40e. End of june production.
OP, when do you expect to take delivery of yours? My dealer has said we can expect ours to arrive end of July or sometime in Aug, but we are in Toronto. Seems pretty long joruney, no? |

Scanido I placed my order May 21st with production to begin the 22nd week e.g. May 30th and should arrive by the end of June if not sooner. My dealer had an allocation already in the pipeline.
Alphaod $1,000 for 20hp I'm thinking not. 2nd set of wheels and winter tires for sure. Maybe a video camera system as idiots have smashed into 5 of my last 7 vehicles. The most recent drivers education D- graduate charged out from a side street and T boned me totaling my 2013 F150. Last edited by coolidge; 06-01-2016 at 03:57 PM.. |

Congrats!
FYI, I'm in Toronto. Ordered my car April 18-19th. It arrived in the city about a week ago and arrived to my dealer this morning and I'm picking it up Friday morning. mine is a diesel, but I got my VIN about a month ago. So it's safe to say, you should be getting your car in about a month I think. Edit: I got my VIN exactly a month ago. May 2nd it was sent to me. Also, like I said my car has been here for at least a week of not more but getting it sent to the dealer took a little extra long this time because apparently they have a ton of cars to move around to dealers so everything is a little slower than usual.

Topec my dealer was able to tell me my production date e.g. week of the year mine was scheduled to be built. I didn't ask they sent me the info on their own, both the production number and the date, then the following week the vin#.

That is because ur in the states where things work differently. The dealer gives u all the info they have n u can track the car from start to finish on ur own. Up in canada dealers don't proactively provide us all the info re VIN, production numbers etc etc. If u read my thread regarding delivery wait times, me n slammed r8 both placed our orders within 1 day of each other, yet for the past few days I kept on calling BMW canada n they tell me my car is still at the factory where as slammedr8's order is st the dealer already. That's y I want him to check his production date of HIS pesetas mines 11 week n still at factory. If his is a later week n already arrived I'd flip out at the dealer.
