2015 x5 x35i 5000mi demo price?

Looking at a demo vehicle at bmw. It is a 35i xdrive with an msrp of $66k. It has just over 5000 miles, and I was told they would be able to come off the msrp just about 4k. Am I crazy, or is this a horrible price? Seems to me that you could use the residual value to calculate the demo value. What would you guys consider to be a fair price on this vehicle? Thanks.

I'd still let them know a used car loses 30% of its value as soon as it leaves the lot. They always pull that shit on consumers

You can easily get 10% off msrp on a brand new 2015, probably a bit more now, minus any incentives. Typically on demos they take .20 cents off per mile. So that's another 1000 off the top. I'd offer them 55100 and not a penny more. If they don't like it, try to negotiate or walk, up to you.

That's not great. I got a '14 demo'd diesel that stickered at 66 for around 58, in November. Had 6k on it.

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies. My wife totaled her suv, so I'm rushed to find something quickly. Any additional input would be welcomed. Im not a regular on the x5 forum, but I also own a 2015 m4. Glad to see the support in the different model forums!

4k is a decent discount off of sticker for a mildly optioned brand new x5. Their markup is more as the options get stacked on. So yes that is a terrible deal. O saw the back end paperwork on my lease. My x5 was stickered at 62,6xx. I paid 58,430 and purchased nothing in the finance office. The dealer profit with hold back was $1190 give or take a dollar or 2. You should get it for flat cost or really close with miles on it

On a 2015 diesel the most I can get off is around 7%, plus any incentives.Do you think I should be able to get 10% of ordered 2015 diesel???

DBV... What part of country are you in? Midwest... 7% is great deal.... East Coast 7% off is good deal. West Coast... 7% off is pretty good deal. All depends on location and demand... If it's sitting on the dealers lot, you have more bargaining power, if you are placing an order, the other thing to consider is dealer allocation. With the 35d, some dealers do not have any build allocations left for 2015 and the 2016 35d won't be produced until December.

FWIW We just ordered a 35d being built now and negotiated just over 6% off after shopping over 15 dealers. I'm happy with the deal. We are trading so what is most important when trading is the difference price.

If you want to save $$, make an offer on the demo for many more thousands off. Also make sure to check when the car was punched and have the dealer either give you more of a discount or have them add in an extended warranty.
As one data point, when I was shopping, my dealer had a demo 35d with similar miles driven as yours, but they were offering $7K off the top as a starting point, so you def have more room.

The problem with negotiating on a demo is that's it's not technically "used" in their eyes, since it's never been titled. Since that is the case, you are getting a warranty start date as of the date it's titled, so you still have 50k miles to go.

All that being said, I'd shop around for a brand new one that you can get for less than that. Remember, the 2016's start rolling out next month, so they are going to want to move their 2015 inventory. That's where the best buys probably are.

Or, you could just find a dealer that will give you 7% off a 2016 order and get a rental while you wait for 2 months. It will probably be cheaper than the note anyways.

yup, not only is it used with miles (they say it's not used because it's not been titled) it's also a year old model ... So deduct the discount you can get on a new one say $5,000 on a 2015 then deduct another say 2k for the mileage so about 7K off would be decent any more than that shop New! Test drive a diesel before you buy the gas, you might just choose a D!

Thats a crappy deal. I wouldnt even bother giving them your business on a new one since they were already trying to rip you off on a demo

You should be able to get more off. My 2012 e92 335 was a demo with 3500 miles. Almost every option on it. Dealer offered me 6k off right off the bat and we settled at 8k off after negotiations.

Garage List
ask for 8k off. It doesn't hurt to ask. If they say "no", then go get a new one with 10k off.

I got 10% on my new X5 2015 with a MSRP of 66800 , with a demo vehicle I am sure you should be able to get more .

Personally I would never buy a demo vehicle. It has been abused, and for just a little savings, its just not worth it.
