I know the 40 is more viscous than the 30 which I've read is excellent oil... i guess I need some good arguments since my 5k oil change is due in about 800 miles.
As the other members mentioned it's LL-01 approved and meets and exceeds all BMW specifications. With that being said, I would still confirm with your dealer that services your car that it will in no way shape or form void your warranty, especially since you mentioned this is the dealers warranty and not factory BMW so the dealer has the right to make up whatever rules they want to. Since it's approved by BMW it should not but get it confirmed first directly with them so they don't try to use it as an excuse should you ever need to use the warranty...dealers make much more from out of pocket then from warranty so the temptation is there...
I just reached out to FCPeuro about their return policy. They told me that oil, filters and air filters all have a lifetime warranty. So after you change your oil you can send it back for a refund! They have the same policy with brakes too. I've bought control arms from them before but never utilized the return policy.. do any of you have experience with it?

LOL, I think that might be a bit of a abuse of their policy sending back used oil....Good thing they don't sell condoms!

Returned a lot to them when had an Audi Allroad. The air spring lasted only a year or so, and they never denied a refund. You just buying a new part, then send the old one and get a refund. Never sent oil or filters back as buying from different place

I agree that's why I was asking if anyone has experience with it.

This is linked on their website..

Thank you for the advice! Not sure what I was smoking or what warranty agreement must have thought about (could have been from an older car), but the current one only says to perform regular maintenance and keep maintenance records showing receipts, dates, mileage and work performed. Looks like I'm in the clear, now the dilemma is to change to 0w-40 LM oil or keep 0w-30 bmw oil.

Wife finally drove her new car a few times now. Really nice swapping between the five wagon and this white whale.

Is there a way to make an iPhone be assigned to a driver profile for launching Apple CarPlay? Doesn’t look like it.

Can't resist. Already have x5m filters, two step colder plugs, catless downpipes and stage 2 bootmod3 planned. The 535 wagon is feeling left out.

This will transform the car into a monster , get your wife another car and you drive this one.

So... I had my 35i deal fall through and now I see an identical 17 50i CPO for about the same price local. Should I be scared or go for it? Currently 28k on the clock..

Go for it. The car has 2 years worth of warranty left.

Car shield mostly sucks but depends on the provider and 73k isn't that much. If it was well over 100k, I'd call you a gambling man

I agree with this. Many good miles left. I'm thankful to still be at 45K miles.

Ok, after putting 5k on the vehicle - and most of it with downpipes, new coils, new plugs and stage 2 tune I can say this thing is an absolute beast. When you get the chance to open it up, have plenty of room because 120 comes all too quickly. We even got 17.5 MPG on the tank on a stock flash tune coming back from our beach trip with bikes and cargo box loaded down. Getting some vibration in the front, but it could be anything from worn out tires, suspension components, or a mount of some kind. Afterall it did do a track day where tire temps got up to 170* F. Brakes worked great and took a repeated beating at the performance center. Wish I had noise from the event as it was sliding and just going all out.

My only gripe is that the ventilated sport seats aren't very comfortable. I find you have to sit straight up and have as much of your body on the main cushion and the gap if your thigh is extended gets uncomfortable over time.

The torque in this vehicle is nuts. We didn't have the x5 in "dyno" mode, so I don't know how accurate this one pull is, but we got really close to 600 tq at the wheels. Mustang dyno: 487 hp and 573 tq.

I also added Dinan springs and 467m wheelset.

Hey, another E61 on style 230's. Ours is a lowly 530xi but that E60 next to it is a 550i that was hit in the front. Going to swap that powertrain into the wagon after the kids get older... should be sometime around 2030.

Very nice stable you have. Looks like you are enjoying the 50i as well. That's a lot of power even in such a heavy platform.

👍 love that you went straight to stage 2.

Looks like a beast!

We also owned an e91, but it was too small for us, too. Really enjoying the x5. I echo your sentiments on how well these cars handle with 5,000lbs. Sitting up high and the body roll takes a minute to get used to, but once it sets a line in the corner it holds it pretty well.

Nice! And agree on the seats, BMW could do much better there.
