F15 Factory Recalls
Hello All. Am wondering if anyone has received a recall email similar to the one I received below. Doing a search on this forum and a general google search don't turn up much. Sounds like it's related to the software load on the car (needing updated)? I just had the X5 into the dealer in Dec 2015 and specifically asked my service rep if there were any software updates for the car (build date was Oct 2014) to which he replied there was not.
I'll be scheduling an appointment with the BMW dealership in Stuttgart here shortly, and will let the forum know what I find out, but wondered if anyone has been informed of this as well. **************BEGIN*E-MAIL********************* Good Day Mr. Ross, I hope you are well. My name is Laura and I work for Bavarian Motor Cars and I am contacting you with regards an open recall on your BMW. BMW has informed us that there is a recall to program the control unit. Please make an appointment with your local BMW dealer as soon as possible. I would appreciate if you could contact me when the recall has been taken care of. Thanking you in advance. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting me at any time. Best regards ... Laura Väthjunker Bavarian Motor Cars GmbH ****************END*E-MAIL********************* |

Do they really print Bavarian Motor Cars instead of BMW in their emails?

Hi,
My car was also build in Oct 2014 and is a European delivery, but I have not received any emails. Will keep you posted if something comes up. |

My first oil change was done 29th December last year from an April 2014 build. So far as I know no software refresh was done then and I have not had any contact from the dealer asking me to drop in.

Thanks for the replies so far. I scheduled an appointment with BMW in Stuttgart for Wednesday (27 Feb) and was told they will need to update the software on the car but couldn't provide anymore info at the moment. Will let you guys know what I find out!

My 35D was a week 40/2014 build. I'm not aware of any recall for reprogramming. There is an update for the phone as well as a newer dataset for the maps. The former update is readily available, the latter the dealer charges +/- $300 to accomplish.
