My wife is getting just over 19 in mixed city driving. I always try to bring that number down a bit when I drive... :-)

We were getting 16.5 MPG, but turning on start-stop upped it to 17.6. We're still breaking it in though -- 900 miles on the odo. Our dealer had the tire pressures all wrong (our rears were significantly underinflated), I just fixed that Sunday and will observe if that has any impact.

We're getting mid 14s as well. We live in very steep hills which has made a significant negative mpg impact on all our vehicles. We typically get 3-5 mpg less than others with the same vehicles. Since the OP lives in Florida, I'm pretty sure this is not his issue.

I was getting 22-26mpg once it was broken in, 16-20mpg for the first few thousand miles.
I can only guess that friction in the engine - and more importantly the drivetrain/xDrive - hit mpg pretty hard out of the gate. |

21.4 MPG. I remember starting around 17.8 MPG for the first 2 months of ownership. Here is my real-world statistics converted to MPG and miles from trackyourgasmileage.com, 2000 miles are mainly on the highway. I use Comfort in the city and Eco Pro on the highway:

Wow, not be be a downer, but those 14'ish MPG numbers are quite atrocious. I live/drive @ a mile above sea level. Our Land Rover LR3 with a 4.4L NA V8 regularly returns 14.3-14.6 MPG in mixed driving. That's a 6,300 pound vehicle (with the family on board), off road tires, roof rack (even less aerodynamic, if that's possible), only 6 gears, lots of hills and mountain driving, and none of that fuel efficient wizardry that an F15 has.
You guys need to have a serious heart to heart with your right foot.

I can't get my V8 400+ HP car to hit 14MPG without winding up in jail. These numbers are shameful, either BMW should be beaten for lying through their teeth or you guys need to have a little heart to heart with your right foot.

LOL. Well in my defense, we're still "testing" the MPPK!
I'm not worried though considering we've had ours nearly 30 days now and we're still in the break-in period. We also don't use Eco Pro, tires weren't inflated properly, and just turned on start/stop for the first time a week ago. I'm sure it will improve once we're past break-in. Always does. |

Why? Are you talking about the average coming up or the motor actually getting better economy?

This process also increases horsepower fractionally as it occurs, again, things seal together more tightly; more compression, less friction = more HP. |

My 5.0i is getting between 14-15mpg with all modes; I haven't checked recently, but it might be better now since I now use Eco Pro a lot. This is also with Auto Start Stop always off. I always ease into my acceleration rather than pedal to the metal- that probably makes a difference. Like @Overtaxed said, you might need to ease off that right foot a little .
