F15 3.0d Transmission in Sport/Sport+
Hi Guys,
is it normal that if I cruise constantly let's say at 130-150km/h the transmission in Sport mode would keep the 7th gear? Why the heck it won't change to the 8th gear? Do I have to choose between sluggish throttle response of the Comfort mode or cruising in 7th gear at higher rpms? I like the throttle response of the Sport mode but can't stand engine revving constantly app. 3000rpm in the 7th gear while cruising on a highway. |

I will leave the coding question to someone who knows coding better, but I will mention that it actually does make some sense based on the reading I've done on Sport/Sport+. One of the characteristics of these two is that they naturally stay in a gear lower than Comfort would, for faster pickup and responsiveness. When you hit the gas in Comfort, it has to downshift. In Sport, it's already there. Sport isn't made for cruising along, but for more aggressive driving.

If you want the suspension set-up without the engine match, you can configure this in iDrive. In sport mode, I set mine to leave the driveline in normal mode but firm up the suspension. I do this because I have about 50+ miles of driving along curvy mountain roads and don't need the engine in a constant higher-rpm state but do want the firmer suspension.
I will also likely leave it in this configuration when towing the boat as it'll provide a firmed platform for towing. |

Hit the paddles or flip the shifter into Manual and upshift to 8th. I've got my Sport mode set to Chassis Only, so it leaves the transmission behavior and throttle response alone.
