That's really cool. hope we ll get it soon. I am actually really excited for the new c63. Might be my next car to replace my mini. I am just not sure about the new Nav screen on the new c-class. Just looks so out of place.

While I would love to have CarPlay because it would be infinitely more useful than anything any car manufacturer has created, I just can't see car manufacturers like BMW adopting this wholeheartedly. They've spent so much time developing idrive. CarPlay essentially supersedes all of that.

I'm good with it as long as I don't have to use Apple Maps...

Yeah, I know they are. But BMW has yet to announce a specific date for the rollout. I wouldn't bet on it happening anytime this year.

You've got to remember car play only has a limited set of features compared to what idrive covers as a whole.

What will be important is how idrive co-exists with carplay rather than idrive or carplay.

Given bmw got burnt once before with apple with iPod out ... I suspect they are treading carefully.

In any case we have next gen idrive around the corner.

You're right about that. I saw a demo of carplay in a merc and I was actually surprised by how little functionality there was. The fact that you have to plug in your phone is also a little bit of a hassle. I'm quite happy with most of idrive as is. If BMW can improve synchronization with my phone for things like app interaction, then I won't care much about carplay to be honest.
