F85/F86 Coding

I just coded my F85 with the following features:
  • Euro LED / Dazzle
  • Remove Seatbelt Reminder
  • Close Windoers/Sunroof with key fob
  • Unlock Door on Engine OFF
  • Brake Force Flashing
  • Disable Headligtht Washer
  • Enable Video from USB
  • DVD in-Motion
  • Remove Legal Disclaimer
  • Enable Full Text Lines

All of those worked. I came from an F80, so I used the same reference sheet attached (just search the key words in FDL edit mode, the numbers sometimes don't match up inside the same module). On Euro LED headlights, you only need to code FEM and KAFAS2 (don't code all modules like the other F15 guys are doing). Oh, rear fog lights don't work like the F80 so don't even attempt. I removed the switch, it's not the same as the F30.

Looking at the F80 parameter, you'll need to see the second attachment of how to change FA (VO) for dazzle headlights. It's easier than it looks. The Euro LED light coding is worth it. I'm so happy with how the headlight works now.

For those who love coding, don't forget to pay it forward. Information on my thread below on how to donate.

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1125375

Thanks shawnsheridan again for your help. Hit Shawn up for the software and contact me if you have questions.

After you installed eSys, don't forget to hit "Abort" when you launch eSys Premium the first time then change the body to F85 or F86. Otherwise you have to wait 3 days to change it agian.

Question, I coded my F86 as well and the Brake Force Flashing feature works as does the tails being on with the DRL's but whenever the Brake Force Flash feature is actually activated by hard braking, it generates an error msg that is easily dismissed by pressing ok in idrive. Does anyone else experience this?

Thx in advance

I wouldn't code tail DRL and rear fogs for the F15/16/85/86. It generates an error during hard braking because you have conflicting commands to use the same bulbs. Unlike the F80/82/83/30/32, our U.S. tail light doesn't have a seperare section or bulb for DRL/Rear Fog.

Coding tail DRL is perfectly fine. The rear fog indeed causing error from what I have been hearing.

+1 - I coded DRL back in April and have had no issues over 4000+ miles. I don't have rear fog coded tho (as the OP says, our vehicles don't support them)

Did you code brake force flashing too? If so, have you done hard braking to test = ABS engaged? I believe the error comes with hard brake flashing and DRL are on the same time.

This is true. This is what I have been experiencing. Its not the DRL that causes the issue but the Brake Force Flashing. I like the feature enough to keep it and simply dismiss the error msg by pressing ok in idrive if and when it ever shows up.

It is the brake force flashing that causes it.
Because it uses the rear fog lamp.
Also, I believe you don't even need to code this because by default it is on already.

Brake Force in the US doesn't flash, it just gets brighter and fills the entire taillight. It's probably not DOT approved, just like dazzle LED headlights. I had to changed the function ESS_AKTIVIERBARER_AUSGANG to bremsclicht blinkend (flashing).

Ahh. I never see it myself on the F15/F16 X5/X6 or F85/F86 X5M/X6M, but I saw it on F22 M235 F3x 3/4 Series F80/F82 M3/M4 during my track day and it flash twice before it went solid if I remember correctly.

It was probably coded. I coded my F80, the guys behind me on the track loved the flashing brake lights.

Is rear hatch foot opening an available feature, this is the first I've heard of it (with BMW that is).

I need to code mine so that I can close the hatch from the remote as well as some of the others I normally code, such as Fogs on with Highbeam's, remove disclaimer messages, etc...

I do like the idea of being able to see the front camera at speed and I'd have to think it's available.

I know in my Range Rover the front cameras are available to turn on while driving directly from the factory.

For those whom have done coding on the F85 or F15, could you please post which modules you have modified (coded). The last one I've coded was my 2015 650xi Convertible.

On that it allowed me to change the display (Navigation) screen to display an animated ///M at startup which was really kind of neat. It would display this prior to the actual Navigation coming up.

Handsfree opening of the trunk is an option with Comfort Access on the X6 but not the X6 M due to the exhaust position. The X5 doesn't have this option at all due to the split tailgate design.

If the lower hatch door is their excuse for not offering it on the X5, I think it's stupid. Over 90% of the time I open the boot, I don't open the bottom hatch. I am opening it to place bags, supplies, etc. in, and I just life them over the bottom hatch. It would be nice not to have to set a handful down, so I have a free hand to open the boot. If you've ever tried opening the boot holding a full bag from the grocery store, or a home repair store, you know it clanks up and down on the back of the car as you reach for the open button.

If it's exhaust related on the M cars, that I understand. Not much could be done about that.

I've been trying to get the foot hatch thing to work for a while - and have been assured several times by BMWNA's "Genius" team that the F86 does have it.

It obviously doesn't, and my guess too was that it was based on the exhaust layout on the M model....

I wonder if it was a last minute decision to remove it from the X6 M. In the manual that came with my X5 M, that also covers the X6 M, it specifically lists that the X6 M has this feature, but the X5 M does not.

Mine doesn't work. The trick is a kicking motion, not waving motion. I'll keep trying and look like an idiot at the grocery store's parking lot.

I wast told by the dealer that x6m doesn't have this feature due to the design of rear fender.
