Coding: Activate automatic heated steering wheel when car is turned on
Helllo,
I searched on the forum but didn't find it. I live in Canada and I'd like to have my heated steering wheel on when I stard the X5. Does anyone know the entry/code ( through bimmercode) ? Thanks |

Never seen it or heard of it (on the F chassis X5). If you go through the control modules (on the easy side) you should see the option if it was doable.
If it's on the EXPERT SIDE...maybe its in some of the many coding threads. Until then, I guess the coding parameters are...press the button on the steering column at start up. BTW, if memory serves me correct...the steering wheel heater does turn back on if you return to the vehicle in like 15-20 minutes. But if the time is longer and the car has gone into sleep mode...then the steering wheel turns off. But the seat heaters and IHKA control panel can be coded to come back on. Again, if you have the app, you can check it out easily...or you can go to the https://www.bimmercode.app/ website and click on "supported cars"...select yours and go through the modules to see what is codeable.

I think this function is implemented on the G05, right? I haven't seen it described in e.g. Bimmercode. Maybe someone knows if it's possible to code with Esys?
Would be nice to choose automatic activation on colder days. That said on some really cold mornings I prefer to keep my electrical consumption on the low side to begin with, and especially if I'm only going for a short ride where I won't be able to charge the battery much... |

I've spent time looking into this myself. The conclusion that I've drawn is that in 2016 they upgraded from nbt to nbt evo. In nbt evo you have the option of setting automatic steering wheel and seat heating based on outside temperature.
You can find nbt evo retrofit kits all over ebay but they're $1500us for the whole shebang including touchscreen.. Not worth it to me unless I had a remote starter already or something. |

I'm starting to think this is a feature found on the new G chassis X5. Check or search the G05 X5 forums (or download a PDF version of the G05 X5)...you may discover that this is a feature/option they have.
