Life goes on, things change and I got a little tired with aging X5 M50d, so one thing led to another and then I ended up with a wagon, because a dog needs to ride somewhere too, right?
Few thoughts: F15: - I still like the look of F15 - I like the creature comforts it provides - mine's almost fully loaded - I like the great visibility it offers - I don't like the weight and the handling resulting from it - aging tech (2014) - comfort seats are too wide for me - M50d servicing is problematic - not many of them around so dealers don't really know how to solve the problems specific to this engine - by nature, X5 is noisy inside, big car, 160k miles, door seals are 8 years old - no surprise G31: - very quiet - half the noise level when compared to F15 - much more modern tech (2020 car, pre-LCI), wireless CarPlay, OTA updates etc - sport seats are lovely, much more comfortable for me than comfort seats - trunk floor is much lower, much easier to load the dog or other stuff - new adaptive LEDs are just amazing - much more comfortable ride, car is almost 1000 pounds lighter and it shows - much, much better handling - I much prefer gas to diesel (environment impact, less pollution from modern petrol engine) - last and least - much better mpg (530i) All in all - I know I'm comparing apples to peaches, but as a daily family hauler - they are not that far apart. As the result - X5 will get sold eventually, I really enjoyed it - but I think I'm done with SUVs for a while. And - funny thought - it might be my last ICE car. |

Great purchase! I’ve seen a few of these running around Poland as I’m in holiday here. Really wish I could get one in the states. Enjoy it. I have been speccing them on the BMW site. Wish I could pull the trigger.
530i is the hybrid right? |
