As many of you know, the Triangle ( Blind spot warning) on the side mirror lights up when another vehicle is in your blind spot area. The system works really well and the defined area is quite large. However when an 18 wheeler was hauling an empty trailer it did NOT detect the trailer. Last edited by barcelona; 12-11-2013 at 05:20 AM.. |

Side steps
Nice looking car!
How have you found the new thiner looking side steps? I have them on my E70 for my wife but they look a lot thinner than the current specification. Are they fit for purpose or just for show? Thanks. |

Thank you Sir, yes they are thinner. Jason asked the BMW specialist a while ago at it was confirmed thinner. I would say that they are functional. Note, when the door is closed there is some on the inside. Hence when the door is open you get the full width. On the plus side the rubber is long parallel strips rather than black dots, in theory easier to clean. With thinner you may not get your pant bottoms as dirty. Update: the aluminum part of the sidestep is 2 1/2 inches and the plastic mold piece is 1" for a total area of 3.5 inches from front to rear. For the rear the last 8 inches of side step begins to tapper down to about 1 inch as it narrows into the wheel well. Last edited by barcelona; 12-11-2013 at 05:46 AM.. |
