Yeap. Thats the correct pin. I have E chassis fuse box from junkyard which cost me $5 I am using almost 6 years, still have plenty!

Hello guys

I need help because I have a problem. I installed the smart opener according to the instructions here. Unfortunately I have a problem, it does not work properly.

Everything has been coded, the rear trunk lid opens but does not close.
When the trunk lid is open and I want to close it with my foot, the lights blink but there is no reaction.
What needs to be coded for the smart closing to work as well?
I have bmw F15 from 10.2015 with NBT

Well Thats the only coding needs to be working. Since you are F15, i assume you coded 5E. If so, check your liftgate, make sure closed properly.

With the opening by kicking, no problem. It opens,but unfortunately won't close. The lights flashing, but the hatch stays open.

As i said, the liftgate bottom part might cause that. Or re check your coding. I cant think of any other solution.

Is there a possibility that the smart opener module is damaged? (installed used)

when you try to close it, you can hear the lower electric lock click. So information force close is received

in my experience, it makes clicking noise and doesnt close if liftgate is not closed all the way

If the bottom gate is not fully closed or the microswitch inside its lock is not functioning the upper will not go auto-down.

Bottom gate It's close for sure 100% I checked it several times

but the coding was wrong. I set it to the F16 model and the tail gate opens and also closes

On the homefront, I did the E70, first... that one was pretty involved. The E70 never had the soccer-mom tailgate offered as a factory option.

Then, added the option to wifey's F15. She hates it and said it is stupid. lol

Here's a parts list from the F15...

Controller Wiring:
.35mm Yellow/Green(pin 1), Red(pin 2), and Brown(pin 3)
Pin 1 to LIN Bus for LF mirror and driver's door switch block.
-Soldered into blue/yellow behind LF kickpanel wire leading to pin 42 on connector 258*4B on BDC

Optional LIN Connection: Instead of connecting to the LIN Bus on pin 42 of the BDC, I ran a wire along the left side of the vehicle and up into the drivers door where I connected it to the wire leading to pin 4 of the switch block.

add-a-fuse and used 150 instead

Controller Pin1 - LIN wire on PIN 42 on connector 258*4B into BDC located in Passenger Footwell
Controller Pin2 - +12VDC from Fuse F150 behind tailgate fuse block
Controller Pin3 - GND to ground bus filled with brown wires located next to tailgate fuse block

Coding in BDC_Body Module:
CAH_SMART_OPENER_COD_FAHRZEUGTYP = 5e
VAM_SMART_OPENER = activ_HK
VAM_ENABLE_SMART_CLOSE = activ

btw, I don't think it's stupid.

A bit of an update with my Smart Opener mod.

It worked on the F15, but not perfectly. I suspected it was mostly due to mismatched parts. So, I ordered a complete set including the bumper bracket...











I was correct. It works perfectly, now.

The lesson is, just buy these exact parts - or, much easier, buy a complete assembly off FleaBay! I chose one from an F30.

Just did this with (eBay) parts from a 2018 G12 760Li, including top sensor that is flat. I was initially disappointed since IDrive shows "open by foot"/"close by foot" options that can't be selected yet it works fine. Thoughts?

Simple answer is the BDC you have does not have option to activate the SMO on iDrive!

About to do this on my f15. I purchased all the parts you mentioned but I bought a newer smo module. Do you think it would work? P no

Yeah seems very difficult to follow unfortunately. Have all these parts but no idea where to start
